Job Description for M&E Technician

• Perform all repair and maintenance works of the Hotel's lighting, power, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration, fire protection, kitchen, laundry and plumbing equipment.
• Carry out regular inspection, repair, overhaul and construction necessary to meet operating requirements and to achieve high standards of maintenance of the switchboard, electrical panels, motors, lighting and power equipment in the Hotel.
• Perform guestrooms and public areas repair and maintenance program as established by the Chief Engineer.
• Perform general maintenance of air-conditioning and refrigeration installation such as air handling units, fan coil units, package units and ventilation fans as established by the Chief Engineer.
• Carry out preventive and routine maintenance of kitchen and laundry installation, plumbing, drainage system including grease traps.
• Perform carpentry jobs such as repair of cabinets, desks, drawers and locksmith jobs.
• Perform painting and varnishing works on all building facilities, guest rooms and common areas.
• Check and record daily the operating conditions of plant and equipment in the Hotel according to the Daily Operation Checklists.
• Clean and maintain the swimming pool and associated pumping equipment. Check the quality of the pool water and ensure compliance to the regulations of Ministry of Environment.
• Perform lift rescue of trapped passengers in the event of lift breakdowns. Perform duties as a fire fighter in the event of fires in the Hotel.
• Ensure that fire and safety procedures are carried out at all times.

• Good Knowledge and Hands-On experience of engineering in the Hotel.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Serves as maintenance worker/mechanic in maintaining all fitness program equipment and facilities in optimum operating condition.

• Assists in the performance of one or more trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, and other related trades.

• Performs general maintenance, repair and/or alterations to such items as: doors, floors, floor covering, walls, ceiling, windows, electrical switches, receptacles and light fixtures, commodes, wash basins and showers.

• Performs repairs of fitness/recreation/mess equipment and appliances and other related maintenance and/or custodial duties.

Conditions of Employment

• Work is performed both inside and outside. Incumbent is exposed to dirt, paint vapors and fumes, possible electric shock, scrapes, burns and cuts.

• Lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, may handle materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds and over.

• Requires prolonged standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

• Exerts physical effort in controlling equipment, carrying and setting up ladders and scaffolds and working from ladders and scaffolds.

• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.

• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the following certifications within ninety (90) days of hire: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification, Navy Basic Fitness Certification.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of trade practices sufficient to complete simple tasks using common skills.

• Familiarity with safe use of common hand and powered tools.

Education

• NITEC or Higher Nitec in Mechanical/Electrical.

• At least 1 year relevant experience.
