About the role
The Media Activation team is responsible for providing thoughtful and exciting recommendations for Search, Social, Display, and Video, owning supplier relationships, and then executing those recommendations expertly. The Media Activation team leverages their mastery of each channel to make sure its recommendations are consistently excellent and innovative, and that in-channel performance and data integrity is maximized.
Reporting into the VP, Head of Social, Global, this role acts as our client's (Google) senior partner and expert for paid social, bought via platform or direct. This role is responsible for delivering best in class social campaigns to meet our client’s KPIs. In addition, you’ll be responsible for educating the rest of the business on what our social activation proposition is and how to talk to clients about it, positioning us as trusted advisors to our clients as well as excellent partners in delivering digital marketing. Success in this role involves providing strategic insight across a breadth of client stakeholders and platforms, owning best practice and optimization strategies within the social channel specifically, and leading a team of 40+ (including ultimate responsibility for quality of work within this team).
Some of the things we’d like you to do:
● Support client team directors & Global VP of Media Activation in capacity planning & resource management for the team
● Oversee development and creation of Social best practices in APAC coordinating with global team to ensure consistency across regions
● Drive greater connection between our client’s various, social initiatives (including organic, influencer, and partnership content in paid media)
● Develop strong relationships with key clients and suppliers, leading team communications with these stakeholders.
● Manage and develop social vendor relationships at an agency/regional level
● Contributing to agency-wide continuous improvement projects regarding processes and quality standards
● Develop thought leadership pieces & case studies throughout the course of the year to galvanise role within wider industry as an expert
● Deliver quarterly, semi-annual, or annual updates on work quality as it relates to owned workstreams
● Motivational Leader, leading by example while encouraging and coaching juniors on the team
● Lead through vision, values, and model leadership behaviors while championing and facilitating change in a positive manner
● Provide timely and actionable feedback to the team to aid in their development, improvement, and progress. Provide awareness and recognition for jobs well done
● Strong and effective communication across all levels; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally
● Career development and coaching for Associate Directors and Directors
A bit about yourself:
● Bachelor’s degree
● Demonstrated progression in a role managing a staff of 25+
● Proven experience at Director level in a Digital Media or Advertising role
● Approximately 10+ years experience in a digital media agency, minimum 8 year of Paid Social planning & buying experience, minimum 6 years of people management experience.
● Knowledge of:
○ Expert knowledge of Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Snapchat, Reddit, Pinterest, and other regional social platforms - planning & buying
○ Experience with reservation-based buying, including vendor management and negotiation and IO handling
○ Detailed knowledge of challenges, opportunities for social measurement & performance management
○ Experience with data integration projects - e.g. API, DMP, Analytics, etc
○ Excellent knowledge of media planning fundamentals e.g. reach, frequency, channels, formats, etc.
○ Expert Knowledge in brand safety and 3rd party verification tools
● A passion for everything digital, with an active interest and understanding of online advertising industry trends
● Strong understanding of optimization levers & testing approaches
● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are particularly important in developing client relationships and maintaining efficient communication across the team
