The role is to provide legal support on all legal aspects of the Group Wealth Management business while focusing on the following areas:
· Corporate Office
· Regulatory
· Client complaints and Litigation
· Projects
- Ensure that effective, accurate legal advice is given on all matters of strategic and operational importance to the bank, taking into account GWM’s business objectives
- Facilitate GWMs business objectives and meet all internal clients’ needs while managing legal, regulatory and reputational risks
- Ensure that all legal requirements applicable to GWM’s operations are met within the Bank’s business framework, given the different laws and regulations applicable in different jurisdictions where GWM has presence
- Manage competing priorities and meet the tight timelines of ongoing projects, while also responding efficiently to internal clients on day-to-day BAU matters
- Manage legal costs for the Bank
Legal Advisory
- Give legal advice on issues relating to GWM’s operation of business, projects, financial products, credit transactions and investment activities
- Advise on day-to-day issues relating to banking secrecy and data privacy, cross border conduct of business, client management, vendor and contract management, employment and outsourcing
Draft and review documents
- Draft and review the bank’s account-related documentation as well as documentation relating to credit products, investment products, discretionary mandates and insurance products.
Projects / initiatives
- Provide legal representation on GWM’s regional initiatives as well as legal support in relation to implementation of new technological platforms, cross border business arrangements and launch of new products.
Risk management
- Safeguard the bank’s reputation by ensuring that the business is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines in the jurisdictions where GWM conducts business
Educational Qualifications
- Law degree holder with at least 7-10 years of proven experience in wealth management (including private banking) within a law firm and/or a bank, specifically, in the high net-worth and mass affluent space, and/or retail banking experience.
