We are looking for an Aerospace Component Repair & Design Development Engineer on a 12-month contract to start with. There is a potential to extend further based on individuals' performance and business needs.

• Work location: Changi Airport

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop repair processes for Component Repairs for Rolls-Royce Trent Engine Components.
• Lead and assist in development of required tooling for respective repairs and inspection requirement, creation of manufacturing routers and process instructions (data cards, recording forms, Setup plans, etc.)
• Lead in demonstration of First article for assigned repair schemes per AS9102, AS13000 and Rolls-Royce’s SABRe Guideline for suppliers.
• Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineers and Specialist from customer team to achieve assigned monthly targets of repair development of Repairs.
• Assist Manufacturing Engineers in resolution of technical and operational challenges or concerns raised to Rolls-Royce, and ensure follow through till approval is obtained, and repair is handed over to shop operations.
• Assisting all steps involved in Source Approval validation packages for Rolls-Royce Source control Repair schemes, and other documentation required for industrialization and approval.
• Assisting effectively interfaces with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Suppliers and other support teams during repair industrialization into the Shop and ensure that it meets Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity objectives, within schedule and budget.
• Interface with vendors and internal functions in an effective manner to ensure that the action items to be carried out for the repair development are executed on time and in budget.
• Assure that all engineering designs and technical data are completed and accurately documented to provide an accurate technical/historical base for future reference and to meet customer / end user requirements.

Technical Expertise

• Well versed in Rolls-Royce Repair Schemes designs, application of engine manuals and Cleaning and inspection chapter, Special Process Manuals and Overhaul process.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Rolls-Royce Component Repair processes.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and inspection tools and processes used in the repair industry, such as heat treat, thermal spray, glass bead & shot peening, arc welding, Wide Gap brazing, machining, etc.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tool/fixture design and applications in repair.
• Commodity knowledge in Nozzle Guide Vanes and Stator Vanes repair is preferred.

• Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is preferred.
• Experience in production

Position Summary:

Plans, designs and develops hardware, software, semiconductor or telecommunications systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead product development teams. Create budgets and timelines. Assist in the allocation of resources across multiple programs.
• Contribute to development cycles of new consumable products, including design, assembly architecture, process definition, process development, equipment specification and prototyping, materials selections and metrology development.
• Define product-level specifications and requirements and translate them to critical parameter management at physical level in the process.
• Implement model systems to reduce cycle of learning time of process development
• Contribute to product level design, characterization, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy novel materials, assembly processes, and characterization techniques and implement those at a prototype level.
• Define and implement process controls, in-line monitoring, and metrology for QA

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experienced leader preferably with management experience.
• Experienced in the design and development of complex integrated devices (Diagnostic, Microfluidic, Microelectronic, MEMS, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems related to device assembly, micro-fluidics, chemical interactions, and strength/reliability of materials.
• Experience with design of experiment (DOE) methodologies and statistical methods for data analysis (i.e., JMP, Minitab)
• Experience with fabrication of fluidic devices, laser welding, plastic joining, or PSA lamination methods is a plus
• Experience with the Lyophilization of reagents and the subsequent handling is a plus.
• Experience with reagent Fill & Finish processes is a plus
• Experience with process development, statistical process control, improvement, scale-up and transfer to manufacturing is a plus
• Ability to relate basic material, physical characteristics, and fabrication variations to performance
• Strong interdepartmental communication skills required
• Collaborates, builds relationships and influences team members to work toward common goals
• Excellent written and oral communication and experienced presentation skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering or related technical field with experience in new product development.

Responsibilities:

• Be a member of the Process Engineering Team for top quality servers & storage products, maintain and update end to end production process & value stream mapping, cover end to end production process for better efficiencies thru process optimization, layout/work station enhancement as well as smart factory / automation projects
• Cooperate with the NPI PM team, Test Engineers, Quality, Production, Planning, Logistic and other departments to support production, including audit
• Support NPI ramp with propose new equipment, manage equipment readiness to support LVO, Engineering Change and customer requirement
• Ability to perform first level process issue triage and resolve issues locally where possible, analyze and identify process issue and deficiencies with follow up actions for resolution and improvement to meet goal for cost, quality and delivery.
• Escalate any process issue found to have major impact on quality, process and or cycle time if not able to resolve locally

Skills and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering
• 3+ years of relevant work experience is preferred
• Strong IT background, experience with SAP is an advantage
• Technically know-how on Kaizen, 6 Sigma, PFMEA, DOE and/or 8D is a plus
• Experience with server & storage product is an advantage
