Team introduction

Content Discovery User Platform team builds and maintains a reliable and safe user platform, supporting user lifecycle information management and access across TikTok. As one of the most fundamental services in TikTok, user team needs to support the company's fast growth by

- Ensuring and improving the system's reliability and stability

- Improving the scalability of the whole system, including scalability in system functionalities to meet various business requirements and scalability in engineering to support rapid growth of user numbers and traffic.

- As a fundamental platform, continuously improve the usability of the platform and optimize the development process.

In this team, you'll have the opportunity to sharpen your expertise in coding and large-scale distributed system design, performance analysis and large system operation. Our challenges are not some regular day-to-day technical puzzles —— you'll have a unique opportunity to have first-hand exposure to the challenges of building a hyper scalable, hyper stable and safe large scale system within a non-stop evolvement of a phenomenal product ecosystem.

- Improve system design and architecture to ensure high stability and performance of the services across global multi-DC, including but not limited to: disaster tolerance, SLA management, chaos engineering, multi-site disaster recovery architecture

- Design and develop core components to improve system scalability

- Analyze service performance and find bottlenecks (language/trace analysis/storage) and optimize accordingly to improve cost and efficiency

- Familiar with relational database and No-SQL database; Familiar with patterns of distributed database.

- Manage operations of user service, such as SLA management, system deployment, performance tuning and trouble shooting

- Participate in regular on-call duties

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field

- Strong programming fundamentals, particularly in data structures, concurrency.

- Experience on operations and optimizations of large scale distributed system's stability

Preferred Qualifications

- At least 5 years of relevant working experience handling scalable distributed services

- Experience building and optimizing highly available, scalable, distributed back-end services.

- Experience on designing and building large scale user platform is preferred

- Experience on DDD (domain driven design) is preferred

Job Summary: The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support for our software applications. This role requires a strong understanding of Java development, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Application Support:Provide second and third-level support for Java-based applications.
   Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
   Monitor application performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Tools usage and scripting would be added advantage.
   
2. Troubleshooting:Analyze, identify, and resolve complex software issues.
   Debug and troubleshoot Java code to fix defects and performance issues.
   Utilize logs, monitoring tools, and other diagnostic methods to identify root causes.
   
3. Collaboration:Work closely with development teams to understand application functionalities and dependencies.
   Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, DevOps, and Product Management, to resolve issues and improve applications.
   Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to provide updates and resolutions.
   
4. Development and Maintenance:Participate in the development and deployment of application updates and enhancements.
   Write and maintain documentation for application support processes and procedures.
   Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance application support and performance.
   
5. Incident and Problem Management:Manage and prioritize incident tickets and service requests.
   Escalate critical issues to appropriate teams and ensure timely resolution.
   Conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations for preventing future incidents.
   

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Java development and application support.
• Technical Skills:Proficiency in Java and Java EE technologies.
  Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (Spring, Hibernate).
  Experience with databases (SQL, Oracle, MySQL) and writing complex queries.
  Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN).
  Knowledge of application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic) would be advantage.
  Experience with monitoring tools and logging frameworks.

Skillset (Must have):

• Possess a degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related fields.
• Experience: Work experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on policy creation, monitoring, and incident response.
• Technical Skill: Skilled in managing NDR, EDR, WAF, email security, and DLP policies. Strong understanding of endpoint/network security, threat detection, and incident response. Proficient in SIEM data querying and analysis.
• Analytical Skill: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
• Communication Skill: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
