The primary focus of the Search Personalization and Ads team lies in optimizing two critical aspects of our platform: search functionality and personalization. We understand that users expect a mature platform like Grab that not only meets their immediate needs but also anticipates and adapts to their preferences over time.

Get to know the role

As a lead product designer, you will lead multiple problem spaces as a design PIC. Your involvement will span the entire product development process, encompassing product strategy, solution delivery, and taking ownership of design processes and results. You will play a pivotal role in elevating the user experience to new heights and introducing innovative solutions. If you prioritize user-centric design, excel at problem-solving, and are proficient in guiding creative processes, then this position is tailored for you.

The day-to-day activities

• Distill broad, conceptual ideas into practical and engaging interfaces.
• Actively involved in defining product strategy.
• Identify high-impact opportunities, and design features in pursuit of goals, and explain the rationale for your decisions.
• Advocate for our diverse user base with hard data and in-depth research to help meet their unique needs.
• Plan, prioritize coordinate, and conduct behavioral analysis, user requirements analysis, task analysis, conceptual modeling, and usability testing.
• Create flows, sketches, prototypes, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups to communicate concepts, solicit feedback, and drive an aligned approach among your team and stakeholders.
• Ensure consistency across all of our products & integrations by adhering to our design system standards and making updates when necessary. Work with engineering, product management, data, marketing, etc. to eliminate inconsistencies.

The must-haves

• A portfolio demonstrating relevant design capabilities is required.
• Experience with designing for web and app interfaces
• Think in terms of design systems and making rational design decisions.
• Understand the technical limitations and liberties behind your decisions and have enough chops to communicate your ideas to our engineers.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate your design and the decisions that led to it through strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills.
• Visual design skills, especially in the construction of visual hierarchies, and attention to detail in typography, spacing, and color.
• 5+ years of experience as a product designer, UX designer, and interaction designer.
• Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Figma, Protopie, or tools with similar purposes.

The nice-to-haves

• Experience in establishing and maintaining design systems
• Experience in designing mobile apps on multiple platforms
• Experience in designing and conducting user and market research studies

Get to know the Role

We are seeking passionate developers with the required skill sets and then some, to join our team. In this role, you will have opportunities to work on multiple backend service clusters as well as participating in machine learning pipelines. You are required to be proactive in identifying problems and adopting the right mindset and skill sets to solve them.

The day-to-day activities:

• Design and write with the cutting edge GO language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services
• Work with the engineering team to explore and create new design/architectures geared towards scale and performance
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
• Engage in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, tuning, and optimization
• Collaborate with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications
• Work closely with infrastructure team in building and scaling back-end services as well as performing root cause analysis investigations
• Design, build, analyze and fix large-scale systems
• Debug and modify complex, production software

The Must-Haves

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related fields
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering in a distributed systems environment
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures
• Familiarity with running large scale web services; understanding of systems internals and networking are a plus
• Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
• Possess excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills, able to think critically of the current system in terms of growth and stability
• You can be a good coder in any language (C++, C, Java, Scala, Rust, Haskell, OCaml, Erlang, Python, Ruby, PHP, Node.JS, C#, etc.), but willing to work on Golang and Scala (Flink)
• Communicates competently in English
• Excellent communication skills, sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills, ability to think critically system growth, and stability.

The Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with high-speed distributed computing frameworks like Apache Flink is a plus.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Dockers is a plus.
• Experience in writing real-time input signals for a Machine learning Model is a big plus.
