Would you like to be a part of a subject matter experts’ (SMEs’) public policy team that is shaping regulatory policy and driving the adoption of cloud computing among regulated industries in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the leading provider of cloud computing services, providing IT infrastructure offerings such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, AI capabilities and more. The AWS Public Policy team is at the forefront of helping customers in regulated industries (such as telecommunications (telecoms), financial, energy services and other companies) maximize the benefits of cloud computing and AI by removing regulatory and policy blockers to cloud and AI adoption and shaping policy frameworks. AWS is looking for a talented, experienced, and innovative individual to develop and drive regional regulatory policy advocacy strategy including representation of AWS before regional policymakers and regulators in the telecoms and other heavily regulated industries. The role is focused around telecommunications and broader digital regulatory frameworks as well as AI policies and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for advocating for favorable policies and regulations to promote AWS’ business interests in the telecoms and other regulated industries, and developing strategies to convince regulators of the security and innovation potential of the cloud and AI.

Key job responsibilities
This SG or AU based position reports to the AWS Head of Public Policy for Regulated Industries and Regulatory Strategy, APJ, and includes the following responsibilities:
• Comprehensive knowledge of AWS business in telecoms and other regulated industries in APJ and of AWS services and use cases, including AI;
• Fluency in all aspects of telecoms (and other regulated industries’) policy frameworks in APJ and their impact on cloud; AI policy and regulation and their trends – in APJ and globally;

• Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, industry associations and partners to promote and advocate the company’s policy priorities.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology (especially AI), enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations. They should have public policy experience in a regulated industry, preferably from telecoms and must be able to point to successful advocacy outcomes they delivered in the past.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you’ll work closely to build and drive a portfolio of projects for clients across sectors such CPG, Tech, F&B, Finance etc. This would involve but not be limited to covering consumer insights, cultural understanding, semiotics, trends, brand purpose and so on.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS ROLE…

· You will independently manage and oversee projects end-to-end, with key client-facing responsibilities (projects can range from 3-4 weeks to 3-4 months)

· You will oversee user-research fieldwork such as ethnographic immersions, diary analysis, consumer interviews across SEA and China.

· You will sense-make from a wide stream of data to uncover insights, JTBDs and opportunity spaces

· You will work with Hive leaders to grow existing business relationships and acquire new clients that are in the CPG, F&B sector

· You inspire clients through translating insights into actionable presentations that also look great.

· On “thinking days”, you will exhibit cutting edge analysis when writing debriefs and contributing to final outputs across several media (PowerPoint, Workshop Decks etc.)

· On “high energy days”, you will co-Lead workshops that resolve tensions around brand, business, service, product and planet related challenges

· As you grow, you will mentor the development of associates, and play a pivotal role in shaping a happy and motivated team

· And, when the day is done, you can kick up your feet and bond with your team mates over shots and word games!

EDUCATION BACKGROUND & REQUIREMENTS

· It would be great if you have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a liberal arts, social sciences, psychology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, design management, with a strong inclination to understand culture & brands

· However, we are not hung up on this. Some of our most brilliant colleagues have backgrounds in chemistry, engineering, journalism and even the history of art. So if you don’t have an educational background that matches the above, but making sense of people, culture, brands and business excites you…write in!

· Have the ability to express exceptionally well, verbally and in writing, in English

· Fluency in Mandarin is a must as some of the work is China-based

· Are a Singaporean / PR and based in Singapore

Key responsibilities

• Implement and execute regional merchandising strategy and commercial priorities by being up to date with regional assortment and demand & inventory strategy.
• Optimize local selling peaks driven by optimizing product exposure strategy to calendar, customer shopping behavior and commercial plan; be responsible to share information towards the digital team regarding availability, activation plan and deal structure to support excellent execution on site.
• Drive in and post season inventory management by picking full price, discount and sale activities in line with regional merch direction, as well as executing stock management, sale, EOP and commercial reduction.
• Follow up on stock and resolve issues together with regional merchandising manager and e-commerce lead; execute regional strategy for commercial impact on key product categories based on in season performance.
• Know your market retail situation and customer profile, providing commercial team with constant and structured sales follow up for the channel, as well as commercial initiatives in store (visit the site in all touchpoints several times a week) to confirm or adjust actions needed.
