We are looking for a motivated bioinformatics specialist who is keen on studying how microbes contribute to common skin diseases such as eczema and acne. Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. We have extensive experience in metagenomic analysis in clinically or commercially important contexts such as uncovering distinct microbial communities in households affected by paediatric eczema (PMID: 35318044) and revealing the microbial basis of body odour in teenagers (PMID: 30497517). We are now focusing on applying various -omics capabilities to larger sized disease cohorts to understand how microbial pathways and biomarkers change with disease progression and treatment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with unique access to next-generation sequencing technologies and a wide range of samples. Position Overview

This position is intended for a candidate who will become one of our primary patient communication specialists. The ideal candidate should be able to clearly convey a range of concepts to different types of clients and feel comfortable presenting and selling treatment plans recommended by our doctors. You will receive comprehensive training on our services and how to address any questions patients may have. However, a natural ability to connect with others and a high level of positive energy are essential for this role. Our team works hard, but we also make sure to enjoy the process.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a proactive and creative individual to provide hands-on support to the Communications and External Affairs Manager. The intern will assist with various projects that communicate CARES’ work to internal and external audiences. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in science communication, digital media, and event coordination. This post is for a minimum of three months, starting February 2025.

Key responsibilities:

Content and Social Media Support

· Assist in drafting and editing content for newsletters, social media posts, website and intranet updates.

Event Coordination

-Contribute to high-quality research and development work in TCOMS laboratory through physical experiments including:

o design of scaled physical test models, such as maritime vessels, offshore rigs, marine renewable platforms, and aquaculture systems for testing in TCOMS Ocean Basin.
