Dr Wang Yibin’s laboratory has a long-standing research interest in the fundamental mechanisms of cardiovascular and metabolic regulations in physiology and diseases. An experimental Postdoctoral Researcher Position in the group of Dr Ahmet Avsar at Material Science and Engineering Department of National University of Singapore is available to develop novel spintronics devices based on magnetic topological insulators.

The research involves advanced nanofabrication in state-of-the-art research facilities, and magneto-transport measurements utilizing low-temperature cryostats. While the researcher will have the opportunity to start her/his experiments immediately, she/he is also expected to contribute into building our newly established laboratory.

The successful candidate will work with Dr Li Xinwei on optical condensed matter experiments under the project of “Quantum inspired protocols for light engineering of correlated materials.”

The main responsibilities of the position include:

1. Construct advanced laser-based optical systems

2. Conduct experimental research on ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy experiments on exciton systems

3. Carry out numerical and analytical simulations on photonic crystal cavity structures

Qualifications/Requirements

• Qualifications / Discipline: A Ph.D. degree in Physics or related areas.

• Skills:

(1) Optical pump-probe spectroscopy

(2) Nonlinear optical spectroscopy

(3) Experience with fabrication of light-matter coupled photonic structures

(4) Instrument development using standard lab-based programming languages

A qualified candidate will be self-motivated with strong technical and analytical skills as well as possess practical and hands-on approach to engineering control in the areas of metrology management

Responsibilities:

• Recipe creation and optimisation for new R&D applications requirement.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance planning cum execution and vendor management.
• To take charge of new tools technical assessment and tender creation (equipment cum process application startup) and service contract tender set-up
• Drive continuous improvement projects (CIP) to achieve better measurement repeatability (MSA, GR&R, SPC etc).
• To set-up appropriate process and product control plan and out of control action plans (OCAP)
• Provide technical training to related staff on best-known practices in terms of application metrology recipe creation.

The rapidly evolving field of levitodynamics explores how such systems can be used as quantum sensors and for testing fundamental physics. Most current levitated systems are limited to small masses (nano/microgram) and rely on incoherent optical interactions, which scatter rather than reflect light.

By leveraging platforms such as diamagnetic, superconducting, and optical levitation, we aim to create ultra-precise quantum sensors and explore profound questions in physics, including quantum collapse mechanisms and quantum gravity.
