Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, NTU is looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in heterogeneous catalysis to develop improved catalyst formulations for conversion of plastic waste into carbon nanotubes and hydrogen.

The project is funded by National Environment Agency, Singapore to address one of the largest problems in waste management – the problem of plastic waste pollution. A significant fraction of plastic waste has substandard quality for mechanical and chemical recycling even after sorting and cleaning. The Research Fellow will use pyrolysis-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology for converting these plastic waste streams (specifically, contaminated and rejected plastics) into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and hydrogen. The role of Research Fellow is to develop catalysts that will allow to reduce catalyst cost and increase carbon nanotubes yield to make the process more economically viable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop machine-learning and deep-learning solutions to address current clinical challenges, including segmentation, detection, and prediction, through the use of large-scale medical/ophthalmic images and data from state-of-the-art clinical platforms
• Perform research in medical image processing and develop novel approaches to multimodal imaging (2D and 3D) using imaging systems ranging from current clinical systems to novel imaging prototypes

• Attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the department

• Undertake specific roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Principal Investigators

Job Requirements

By means of a PRISMA framework, we will conduct a systematic literature search and screening to identify eligible articles for each topic. A preliminary literature search will be conducted to estimate the amount of literature on each topic. As approach to synthesize the literature, we will use an umbrella review for each topic, i.e., focusing on meta-synthesis, synthesis, and review literature. The findings will allow the identification of effective interventions for each topic in facing challenges throughout the students’ school period.
