NIE invites suitable applications for the position of Manager, Dean’s Office with the Office of Education Research (OER). OER oversees the management of education research across the Institute to enhance the Institute’s strategic aims of learning, teaching and research as well as to enhance its standing as a leading international research institution.

Responsibilities

• Support in conceptualising and overseeing strategic research plans.
• Support in the oversight of the implementation of the 5th tranche of the ERFP to inform strategic research planning.
• Liaise with research centres, academic departments and admin units for downstream implementation of strategic research plans.
• Provide secretariat support for the organisation and coordination of OER strategic research retreats and strategic research meetings with external stakeholders such as MOE.
• Support in the Strategic Research Monitoring & Evaluation such as half yearly and KPI reporting.
• Coordinate Strategic Research Reporting, Information, Engagements and Outreach efforts.
• Any other duties as assigned by People Manager and Dean, Research.

Requirements

• A University degree.
• Preferably with 2 to 5 years of working experience in an educational or research institution, with experience in strategic planning and/or corporate communications.
• Possess excellent writing, communication and inter-personal skills.
• Able to communicate professionally and work with faculty and staff across various administrative units.
• Strong numerical skills and meticulous.
• Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills.
• Able to maintain high standards of confidentiality of sensitive materials.
• Able to monitor compliance with policies and uphold governance of policies.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently under pressure and highly adaptable.
• Able to learn fast, multi-task and work within tight timelines.
• Demonstrate excellent knowledge of MS Office applications and willingness to learn or use new IT software and applications as and when required.

Other Information

Sales Associate reporting to the Head Sales Team, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Front-to-back responsibility for the account opening process of end-clients of our institutional partners by conducting proper documentation review and preparing KYC pack for Compliance.
• Go-to Person for client enquiries in the day-to-day business ensuring high quality assistance to our clients and sales administration.
• Provide full support to all Sales team members to ensure good internal service level and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with other departments (Legal and Compliance, Operations, Trading, Risk) to ensure smooth business operations.
• Contribute to improve systems and tools in internal project boards.
• Other administration/support  tasks as assignment from Department Heads.
• Proactively suggesting new ideas on way to improve our business objectives and processes.

Design and project management of mechanical and electrical engineering systems (MVAC, Elect, Lifts, Fire Protection, Plumbing and Sanitary, etc) for building projects in the various sectors such as residential, office, commercial, hospital, institutional, etc. Engineer shall be expected to carry out design work, attendance at consultants meetings and management of the relevant M&E aspects of the construction activities.

The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation, Ministry of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS). Hosted by NTU in partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life sciences with expertise from emerging technologies in engineering and natural sciences to understand, harness and control microbial biofilm communities.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated individual to join our team at SCELSE as a Research Fellow. The successful candidate will lead projects that focus on obtaining a detailed molecular mechanistic understanding of microbial biofilm development, and microbe-microbe interactions, in settings relevant to food spoilage and the food chain. The selected candidate will work independently, with other team members, and with collaborators to perform both in vivo and in vitro experiments to address specific scientific questions related to biofilm development/community interactions in these settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• To plan, perform and document laboratory experiments to study biofilm development and community interactions.
• Work closely with the Principal Investigator to analyse and interpret data, troubleshoot experiments and write manuscripts on research outputs.
• To train students/staff in the lab in relevant techniques and contribute to co-supervision of some of these team members.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in biology, biomedicine, microbiology or a related field.
• Experience in general microbiology processes is essential.
• Ability to design, plan, and execute experiments independently is essential.
• Experience in biofilm research is desirable but not essential.
• Experience with metagenomics, metabolomics and fluorescence microscopy is desirable but not essential.

** Initial contract duration for 12 months, with the potential for extension.
