Purpose of the post

To assist investigators in conducting a large-scale lifestyle intervention study according to study protocol, Singapore Guideline for Good Clinical Practice (SGGCP) and other applicable regulatory and ethical requirements as well as institutional policies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research patient/Subjects Management

1. Gate keeping of the recruitment progress. Assist investigators in the screening and recruitment of potential patients/healthy volunteers as according to trial protocol.
2. Assist investigators in obtaining informed consent
3. Maintain and update screening log & enrolment logs
4. Schedule appointments for patients/subjects
5. Perform delegated procedures as required according to trial/study protocol
6. Ensure patients’/subjects’ compliance to trial medication / intervention

Research Patient/Subjects Management

4. Document and tabulate financial payments received and / or made to support the study

The Asia Research Institute invites outstanding, active researchers from around the world to work on an important piece of Asia-centred research in the social sciences or humanities.

Apart from the quality of the research proposal, and the applicant’s publication track record, positions will be awarded on the basis of the relationship of their research topic to the identified priorities and themes of the cluster.

The Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Cluster concentrates on the relationship between those three domains in and beyond Asian settings, and their intersections with the environment in the past, present and future.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Researcher will work under the supervision of the Cluster Leader and take the lead in duties such as organising workshops and conferences, participating in current cluster projects, and carrying out new projects (including applying for grant funding). We are seeking to recruit a proactive and motivated research assistant to join the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein at the National University of Singapore (NUS) launched on 5 September 2024, the first of its kind in Asia to advance research in alternative proteins. Led by experts from NUS and research institutes in Singapore, the Centre aims to drive global food security and accelerate regional innovation. The focus will be on microalgae research and biomass fermentation, to produce high-quality, affordable, and sustainable microbial proteins from microalgae and biomass fermentation that can be further developed into cultured meat and plant-based protein hybrids. Microbial proteins will be cultivated through fermentation and processed using emerging bio-physical techniques for effective biotransformation, to improve digestibility, flavour, and nutritional profile. As a research assistant, you will assist with conducting and monitoring microalgal cultivation bioprocesses via analytical techniques to achieve maximal product titres, yields, and rates. PURPOSE

Job Description

The successful candidate will work with PIs Associate Professor Duane Loh and Assistant Professor Tan Yongzi on computational phase retrieval for cryo-electron microscopy of floppy, low-contrast RNA molecules.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

1. Develop realistic forward model to simulate noisy cryo-electron micrographs from RNA biomolecules.
2. Perform computational phase retrieval on 2D micrographs using physics-informed neural networks.
3. Infer structural variability of floppy biomolecules from computationally phase-retrieved micrographs.

Qualifications

• Fluent in high-performance scientific computing and imaging in python, and comfortable in the Unix environment.
