Job Title: Research Fellow in Spatial Epidemiology

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore (NUS) seeks a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join an interdisciplinary research project on surveillance for zoonotic and vector-borne diseases in changing environments (SENSOR Project). This project focusing on emerging diseases in Borneo and is conducted in collaboration with an international consortium of universities in Malaysia, Singapore and the UK. This position offers the opportunity to work on ground-breaking research projects in the broad areas of environmental change, infectious disease surveillance, spatial epidemiology, machine learning and global health.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct high quality research in epidemiology, machine learning and/or meta-analyses to identify impacts of environmental change on infectious disease dynamics and design targeted surveillance approaches;
• Develop and implement statistical methods, computational models and/ or machine learning algorithms to analyse environmental and infectious disease data;
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of researchers, including epidemiologists, biologists, environmental scientists and policy makers;

We aim to develop advanced AI models for creating cardiac digital twins, i.e., personalized virtual heart models. We will employ the dataset (imaging, ECG, electronic medical records, etc) collected from patients, to accurately modelling the anatomy and simulate the function of patients' diseased hearts. These models, coupled with machine learning techniques, contribute to the identification of crucial mechanistic relationships and features that offer insights into the trajectory of a patient's heart condition. The research will delve into the intersection of AI and cardiac sciences, exploring novel approaches to revolutionize our understanding of the human heart. With the potential to impact medical treatments and technology advancements, it promises an exciting and important avenue for personalized medicine. This project will study and propose feasible solution to retrofit existing coastal protection structures. Special feature of this proposed solution is that it must be able to reduce seawater seepage, using innovative way of impervious material. The solution must also be modular in nature, such that it can be stack onto the existing seawall or the previously installed layer.
