We are seeking to recruit a proactive and motivated research assistant to join the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein at the National University of Singapore (NUS) launched on 5 September 2024, the first of its kind in Asia to advance research in alternative proteins. Led by experts from NUS and research institutes in Singapore, the Centre aims to drive global food security and accelerate regional innovation. The focus will be on microalgae research and biomass fermentation, to produce high-quality, affordable, and sustainable microbial proteins from microalgae and biomass fermentation that can be further developed into cultured meat and plant-based protein hybrids. Microbial proteins will be cultivated through fermentation and processed using emerging bio-physical techniques for effective biotransformation, to improve digestibility, flavour, and nutritional profile. As a research assistant, you will assist with conducting and monitoring microalgal cultivation bioprocesses via analytical techniques to achieve maximal product titres, yields, and rates. Data science is an important component of biomedical and translational research, where data of multiple modalities are being constantly generated at unprecedented scale. The Research Data Integration group in the Biomedical Datahub Division of the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, aims to bridge the complexity of computational biology and data science with the needs of biologists and clinicians to drive biological discoveries and predict translational outcomes. We are developing data platforms in BII Biomed DAR, integrating healthcare data including clinical and research data, for various diseases including cancer, metabolic diseases and skin diseases. We are seeking a computational scientist to develop analytical, statistical and machine learning methodologies and workflows for analysis and integration of large-scale multi-dimensional omics (bulk, single-cell, spatial), perturbation screens, imaging and clinical data) for these data platforms. RAs with a communication research background will be tasked to focus on human evaluation and news consumption (Communication research).

Job Responsibilities

As a Research Fellow with CTIC, you will have the following duties:

Research:
• Plan and lead literature review efforts
• Plan and draft submissions for conferences and journals based on findings.
• Plan and write op-eds for university blogs and popular media.
• Comm Research RAs:
o Plan and conduct experiments on human perception and consumption of online news.
o Collect data and analyze it using tools like SPSS, R, and Excel
• CS Research RAs:
