A Postdoctoral position is available at the Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore (BEARS) with Assistant Professor Yanwei Lum. The goal of the project is to develop electrochemical systems for CO2 conversion and work with high sensitivity analytical tools that would be amenable for high throughput screening and reaction mechanism investigation. The candidate is expected to build model catalyst systems to investigate hypothesis and validate existing theories. They will also work in the framework of a larger team at BEARS for high throughput analysis and screening. It is expected that these will eventually lead to rationally designed catalysts for electrochemical CO­2 reduction.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Perform materials synthesis and characterization.
2. Carry out electrochemical studies to determine electrocatalyst performance.
3. Perform product analysis and quantification using methods such as GC, HPLC and NMR.
4. Perform mechanistic studies of electrochemical CO2 reduction mechanisms.
5. Work with high sensitivity chemical analysis equipment.

Qualifications

Candidates must have obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering or related fields.

Candidates are required to have the following skillsets:

1. Materials synthesis for a variety of solid inorganic materials as electrocatalysts through various synthesis procedures.
2. A strong understanding and extensive experience in electrochemistry and electrocatalysis is a must
3. Working knowledge and experience in GC, NMR and HPLC.
4. Experience in operando catalyst studies (e.g. in-situ Raman, FTIR and etc)
5. At least 1-2 Publications in top tier journals (IF > 10)

Summary

A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available for 3 years (extendable by one more year) to work on a collaborative project on decarbonization. • Manage calendar scheduling for assigned Directors / management.
• Assist Directors/Management with internal training, claim, and leave submission.
• Facilitate arrangements for management overseas trips.
• Organize and coordinate meetings/visits, including assist in preparation of materials.
• Take meeting minutes and follow up on action items, when required.
• Assist with onboarding of new hires in supported divisions/offices
• Handle requests and queries from management.
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned by Management or Reporting Officer.

Job Requirements

• Diploma in a relevant field. Candidates without a diploma but with equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years working experience in administration work is a plus.
• Ability to break down tasks into deliverables and set realistic timelines for completion.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, independent and adaptable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with SAP is an advantage.
• Willingness to be scheduled to work off-shift hours in support of visits/events occasionally.

Job duties and responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning and Execution:

a) Assist in Developing IT Strategy:

• Collaborate with the Director Technology Operations to formulate and implement long-term IT strategies that support business objectives.
• Identify opportunities for technological advancements and innovation within the organization.

b) Align IT Initiatives with Business Goals:

• Ensure that IT projects and initiatives are aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
• Participate in strategic planning meetings and provide input on how IT can support business growth and efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Director Technology Operations to develop and implement strategic plans for HPC administration, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
• Provide leadership and direction to the HPC administration team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

2. Project Management:

• Oversee IT projects from initiation to completion, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business needs and priorities.
• Monitor project progress, identify issues or bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.

3. Corporate IT Integration and IT Automation:

• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for Corporate IT administration that align with A*STAR IT policies and best practices.
• Lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of IT automation opportunities.
• Oversee the deployment of automation tools and technologies to streamline IT operations, reduce manual tasks, and improve efficiency.
• Ensure that automation initiatives are scalable, secure, and integrated with existing systems.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive digital transformation strategy aligned with the organization’s goals.

4. Security and Compliance:

• To Collaborate with NSCC Cyber Team to develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect HPC and IT systems, data, and resources from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices related to data security and privacy.

5. Vendor Management and Procurement:

• Collaborate with vendors to procure HPC hardware, software, and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.
• Evaluate new technologies, products, and solutions to enhance the performance, efficiency, and reliability of HPC infrastructure.
• Manage NSCC IT Asset and Inventory.

6. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

• Analyze performance data, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve system efficiency and throughout.

7. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure the resilience and availability of HPC systems in the event of disruptions or disasters.
• Conduct regular backup and recovery tests and implement safeguards to minimize downtime and data loss.

8. Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in HPC administration, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
• Lead initiatives to enhance the capabilities, performance, and efficiency of HPC systems, driving innovation and delivering value to the organization.

Job Requirements:

• Background in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant ICT experience, including minimum 4 years' experience in leading ICT application projects and managing project teams.
• Proven leadership skills including strong people management skills, stakeholder engagement skills and vendor management skills.
• Strong analytical, conceptualisation, problem solving and project management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Motivated by innovation to achieve business goals and customer satisfaction.

• Execute industry engagement plans and drive initiatives to establish strong collaborations with companies, facilitating successful technology transfers.

• Meet Industry KPI: Grow SIMTech Industry Revenue, Industry in-kind contribution, Licensing revenue, competitive funding, publicity of successful implementation of SIMTech solutions
• Collaborate with the Course Leader to formulate and initiate training courses tailored to the industry’s needs, by providing market intelligence information, competitive analysis and gap analysis.
• Support the Research Groups in industry-related engagements for competitive project formulation and seamless execution.
• Take charge of the business and legal documentation for projects, including liaising with companies and alignment with internal stakeholders.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with industry partners and take charge of business aspects in ongoing projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science.

• Demonstrated ability to organize and execute industry outreach activities to generate industry interest to secure successful collaborations.
