The AMR IRG is an interdisciplinary community of biologists, engineers, and clinicians from MIT and Singapore, sharing a state-of-the art research facility and united by a commitment to providing a supportive intellectual environment where students and staff can learn, grow, and contribute to solving a pressing societal problem.

The objective of this project is to advance the field of RNA analysis by developing and implementing innovative analytical tools. These tools will be used in a comprehensive study of all forms of RNA -- the ribonucleome -- and the >170 RNA modifications -- the epitranscriptome -- in disease pathobiology, host-pathogen interactions, biomarker development, and therapeutic target discovery.

Responsibilities

The Research Engineer will plan and conduct experiments with the aim of understanding RNA modifications' roles in human disease and leveraging RNA-modifying enzymes as potential drug discovery targets. The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on the development of new biomarkers and image analysis methods for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine. A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. He/she will perform process design, engineering and scale-up of in a Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT3) on Jurong Island leading up to a technology transfer. This role requires good understanding and knowledge of the underlying key process/chemical engineering and scientific principles of low carbon technologies and uses computer aided engineering tools such as simulators, process and plant engineering tools for process development and engineering. This individual thinks analytically to solve problems and improve existing methods and processes.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for providing scientific and technical direction and/or development, design, and scale up of carbon capture, utilisation and low carbon hydrogen technologies
• Responsible for developing new projects, including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical or other related engineering fields.

• Excellent working knowledge on various process technologies, scale-up & scale-down and process intensification methodologies or principles
• Has good working experience with relevant computer aided engineering tools including simulation (eg. Aspen Plus, AVEVA, Gproms etc.), and the use of detailed process models to support process design, scale-up and process optimisation during operations

In this position, you will be a member of Quantum Photonics and Information group and mainly work on continuous variable (CV) based on quantum information technology.

In this role, you will work on the following but not limited to:

• Development of high-performance sources to generate squeezed light.
• Characterizing the squeezed light.
• Continuous variable (CV) quantum information.
• Large cluster state generation & characterization.
• Collaborate with other group members to exploit the advantages of CV quantum systems in various applications.
• Quantum metrology & sensing.
• Data processing, programming, and automation of lab setups.
• Scientific dissemination (journal papers, conferences, and patents)

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in physics/optics, or closely related fields
• Candidate with relevant experience or PhD training experience are welcome to apply.
• Substantial hand-on experience in experimental research in quantum optics and quantum information is advantageous.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment for quantum optics experiments, including lasers, optical components, and detectors.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

To gear A*STAR up for the innovation-driven economy set out by the Research Innovation & Enterprise 2025 Masterplan, the Business Division (“Tech-Biz”) was being established in the Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy and Environment (ISCE2) . The BD role will further strengthen ISCE2 in generating economic and societal impact for Singapore.

Importantly, the BD role will seek for new business opportunities to translate chemical solutions from early stage activities to handling of contractual agreements for R&D, licensing and grant management. BD will also play a national role in terms of grants preparations and support whilst , working closely with other divisions in A*STAR, as well as actively supporting I&E efforts in the wider ecosystem.

As part of the Business development team, you will:

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for meeting business targets of achieving incoming industry revenues.
• Host company visits and arrange for site tours.
• Review of technologies, prioritization and establish strategies to commercialize A*STAR ISCE2 intellectual properties in the area of chemicals, decarbonisation and built environment.
• The candidate is required to manage, encourage, support the development and protection of intellectual property and establish IP and business strategies to assist in assessment of inventions, identification of potential markets and competitive technologies.
• Candidate will be required to also build business partnerships and technical collaboration opportunities to commercialise technologies out from research labs and to build the value chain, establishing the value chain with various key stakeholders.
• The candidate is expected to be proactive in scoping/ supporting and manage specific projects to develop initiatives in innovation, IP management creating an impact, including acquiring industrial grants and contracts through meetings with researchers and external entities.
• The candidate will need to demonstrate passion to work with scientists and industries to understand key challenges and find the right solutions to build relationship and understand the technology landscape, highlighting key trends to accelerate spin-out, licensing, and provide leadership and oversight to achieve desired success. The candidate should have strong negotiation skills.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor or higher degree in Science or Engineering
• Strong background, preferably 5 years of working experience in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• At least 4-5 years of Business experience, with strong industry network would be desirable
• Experience in product development and commercialization in industry or start-up preferred.
• Knowledge in handling intellectual property and management including identification, due diligence and protection of IP
• Experience in handling commercial contracts negotiations, project management skills to handle multiple projects efficiently and to work with local and international clientele.
• Key account management skills
• Effective oral, strong writing and communication skills to weave the value propositions for grants and power point skills would be important.
• Passionate with commercialising cutting edge technologies and creative problem-solving skills and ability to demonstrate initiativeness

A Senior/Principal Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing or overseeing the development of chemical processes including low carbon processes as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing processes in a pilot plant leading up to a technology transfer. He/she will perform process design, engineering and scale-up of in a Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT3) on Jurong Island leading up to a technology transfer. This role requires good understanding and knowledge of the underlying key process/chemical engineering and scientific principles of low carbon technologies and uses computer aided engineering tools such as simulators, process and plant engineering tools for process development and engineering. This individual thinks analytically to solve problems and improve existing methods and processes.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for providing scientific and technical direction and/or development, design, and scale up of carbon capture, utilisation and low carbon hydrogen technologies
• Responsible for developing new projects, including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results and necessary resources.
• Responsible for the executing or planning/directing of laboratory-based or pilot-based experiments to support process development, scale-up campaigns and process optimisation leading up to technology transfer
• Lead or support multi-disciplinary team of scientist and engineers through technical challenges and contribute to the successful completion of projects
• Supervise and mentor junior process development scientists and engineers

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical or other related engineering fields.
• Possess at least 10 years of experience in process development and engineering with good knowledge on process control and safety in the process or chemical industry
• Excellent working knowledge on various process technologies, scale-up & scale-down and process intensification methodologies or principles
• Has good working experience with relevant computer aided engineering tools including simulation (eg. Aspen Plus, AVEVA, Gproms etc.), and the use of detailed process models to support process design, scale-up and process optimisation during operations
• Experience in collaborating and has good appreciation with other related disciplines eg. electrical and instrumentation, automation, process safety etc.
• Ability to plan and/or execute experiments at laboratory and pilot scale (scale-up/scale-down) to support process development, troubleshooting and optimisation
• Working experience in a chemical production facility and familiarity with regulations, codes and industry best practices would be a bonus
• Working experience in process/plant engineering tools (eg. AutoCAD process/plant engineering, Aucotec Engineering Base, etc.) would be a bonus
• Possess technical leadership quality to lead team and/or supervise junior engineers
• Possess strong interpersonal, oral and written communication and organization skills
• Self-driven and meticulous individual who has the strong ability to multi-task and has good time management skills to deliver results under tight timelines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for the timely documentation, presentation, and discussion of results in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, team-based environment
