Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, NTU is looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in chemical reactors to develop an improved prototype for a thermocatalytic process.

The project is funded by National Environment Agency, Singapore to address one of the largest problems in waste management – the problem of plastic waste pollution. A significant fraction of plastic waste has substandard quality for mechanical and chemical recycling even after sorting and cleaning. The Research Fellow will work on the design, fabrication and testing of a chemical reactor system that will use pyrolysis-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology for converting these plastic waste streams (specifically, contaminated and rejected plastics) into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and hydrogen. The role of Research Fellow is to design a system prototype that can effectively mitigate the impact of impurities from diverse plastic waste streams on production outputs and can be operated in a continuous mode.

Antimicrobial drug resistance is a growing an alarming problem that poses serious challenges to the existing public health infrastructure of Singapore and of the rest of the world. Recalcitrant infections can add enormous costs and strains to health care systems that are already stressed. Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for optical system design and development for metasurface based SLM 3D Holograph Display, Near-Eye Display, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality etc. applications.
• Good experience on optical lens and system (e.g. Metalens) design
• Research meeting arrangement with project PIs and researchers
• Perform and analyze material/optics characterization

Job Requirements:

• A Master degree in the areas of Optical Engineering and/or Photonics devices and System.
• Knowledge and/or experience in using optical simulation tools such as Zemax, CodeV etc.

Job Responsibilities

Position Available: Research Fellow

Join the laboratory of Associate Professor Francesc Xavier Roca Castella at the School of Biological Sciences. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focusing on the prediction and testing of genetic variants potentially affecting splicing by in silico and mainly experimental methods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and executing experiments and analyses to predict and test genetic variants that could affect RNA splicing. Key techniques include splicing minigenes, high-throughput sequencing, and CRISPR-mediated gene editing.
• Interpreting experimental data and outlining its implications (substantial experience in these areas is required)
• Preparing manuscripts and presentations for both internal and external audiences
• Mentoring and train Project Officers, PhD students, and undergraduate interns, contributing to the scientific development and productivity of the lab
• Collaborative teamwork is essential

Job Requirements:

• A PhD in Biology, Molecular and/or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines, with a focus on RNA splicing or related topics
• Experience in at least five of the following areas:
  Cell culture
  Standard molecular biology techniques
  RNA biology
  Human genetics
  RNA splicing
  Next-generation sequencing
  Bioinformatics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
