Research Fellow (postdoc) positions in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS).

The primary objectives of these two positions are to foster a profound design principle towards novel, cost-effective electrocatalysts and reactors for the efficient conversion of CO2/CO into liquid fuels. Furthermore, these roles will involve exploring the potential for synergizing biochemistry and electrochemistry, with the overarching goal of enhancing selectivity and efficiency in the conversion of CO2 into multi-carbon products. Extensive state-of-the-art infrastructures for materials synthesis and physical characterizations are established at the Department.

The Signature Research Programme in Health Services & Systems Research (“HSSR”) in Duke-NUS Medical School is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. Hosted by CNRS@CREATE, the program ‘Carbon Negative production of advanced Sustainable Aviation Fuels using twin synthetic bacterial consortia Project’ (CNegSAF) is an international collaboration between world leading institutions in France and Singapore including CNRS, Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (TBI), National University of Singapore, A*Star (SIFBI), and Nanyang Technological University. CNegSAF aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using a synthetic bacterial consortium to convert green hydrogen and concentrated waste CO2 (released by chemicals companies) into sustainable aviation biofuels. This innovative research program has the potential to significantly contribute to Singapore’s and the world net-zero emissions target while supplying sustainable aviation fuels to the aviation industry.

DESCRIPTION

To join this team, we are looking for a candidate who will be in charge of enzyme engineering activities using state-of-the-art evolutionary engineering and computational enzyme design techniques. The candidate will be involved in the development of screening protocols, construction and screening of enzyme libraries, designed by in silico molecular modelling. These enzymes will be further used for the creation of novel metabolic pathways for terpenoid production in engineered bacterial strains.
The perspective researcher will work in a multidisciplinary environment with access to high-throughput screening equipments (both in Singapore and Toulouse, France) and have frequent and strong interactions with other scientists involved in metabolic engineering, pathway engineering and computational enzyme design.

The Global Centre for Asian Women’s Health (GloW) aims to build a global research platform for transdisciplinary endeavours to address major health concerns over a woman's lifespan and across generations. Through its main hub in Singapore, the Centre will engage in multi-disciplinary research to promote women’s health, including a series of diet and lifestyle intervention studies.

Purpose of the role

The project coordinator/manager will play a key role in dietary intervention studies by actively managing and coordinating diet and lifestyle intervention studies in GloW. Responsibilities include performing administrative duties to ensure the studies’ success and compliance. The staff will work closely with Principal Investigators of intervention studies, collaborate closely with the research team, food service team, and other relevant stakeholders, as well as undertake other ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by the Centre’s Director as needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The staff will hold a few key responsibilities, including

• Recruit and interview study participants for the intervention study
• Provide administrative leadership for the trial, ensuring compliance with regulatory, ethics and governance requirements
