Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor John S. Ascher on environmental modeling of mosquito vectors and stinging wasps and bees and other insects of importance for public and environmental health under the CNRS@CREATE, SPACE project.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

Working with the appointment PI to validate as fit for use an existing specimen and community science dataset of insects of importance for public and environmental health, especially mosquitoes and stinging wasps. The appointee will then conduct species distribution modeling based on an existing pipeline already established for bee research and documented in a publication. The candidate will start with highest priority mosquito species such as Aedes albopictus and other well known species of public health importance will move on to other species as time allows.

Qualifications

Skills:

This project aims to investigate the performance of cementitious materials and 3D printed concrete against ballistic and blast loadings. The researcher will be required to cast and fabricate the various cementitious materials and 3D printed concrete, prepare the logistics and perform the relevant ballistic and blast tests. Chronic unresolved inflammation is a key pathogenic feature of prevalent inflammatory disorders and related syndromes that together are predicted to affect close to 60 million people with an annual cost of $90B. As such, the global anti-inflammatory therapeutic market is in urgent need for new targets for therapeutic intervention.

The Ho lab at Duke-NUS is building a platform to mine the human genome for novel determinants of the inflammatory response. We are seeking an experienced researcher who will participate and drive the execution of this platform in collaboration with other senior members of the team. • Management of new tool installation, start-up, and tool upgrades to increase fab capability and capacity, lower costs, and improve yields.
• Work with minimal supervision, balancing competing priorities, to serve the needs of the Maintenance, Production, and Development organizations.

Required Qualifications

Ischaemic stroke and cardiovascular diseases, focused on biomarker discovery and validation using preclinical vascular and animal models. A key focus of the work is to understand the reasons why strokes occur and how to identify high-risk individuals for more intensive interventions. This work leverages on a well-phenotyped repository of samples from stroke patients who have been meticulously characterized by whole-exome sequencing, RNA-seq and proteomics and outcomes collected in patients who were followed for more than 10 years.
