Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will design and execute experiments in M. tuberculosis infection of mice, processing of samples, and associated readouts including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology including immunofluorescence. State-of-the art techniques include spatial transcriptomics and bioinformatics can be learnt and applied. Spatial transcriptomic work is also expected from human tissues. The candidate will be responsible for conducting research on optimizing the processing of multi-modal input (especially a combination of event (neuromorphic) vision sensors and RGB camera sensors) for visual grounding tasks, and for also embedding such optimizations in early prototypes of AI-based systems for text+vision tutoring support (e.g., for geometry learning).

Successful candidate will be part of an active research team led by Prof Archan Misra from School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University.

The candidate will have the following key duties:

• Develop and implement new algorithms for efficient processing of hybrid RGB & event vision streams to extract semantically relevant sensory data for visual grounding tasks.
• Develop and implement optimizations to DNN inferencing pipelines, including the integration of Spiking Neural Network (SNN) models, to reduce latency of visual grounding AI models without adversely affecting accuracy.
• Conduct experimental studies (including generation of training data) to quantify the resulting system performance and generate appropriate analytical artifacts (e.g., graphs, reports) to document such performance
• Support the research team to produce high-quality research publications

• Minimum Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related disciplines from a reputable institution of higher learning
• 2+ years of relevant research experience in developing and implementing AI models for advanced visual perception tasks

Job Description

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), National University of Singapore is looking for researchers and engineers to develop next generation quantum computers based on trapped ions. There are multiple positions available at different levels with a diverse set of expertise. This program is funded under the National Quantum Processor Initiative, a flagship program under the National Quantum Office Singapore. The aim of the program is to develop a full stack quantum processor based on Yb-Ba ions. This program brings together the unique capabilities of the existing ion trap groups in CQT expertizing on these two-ion species to explore scalability of the system.

The Centre for Quantum Technologies is a pioneering quantum centre in the world offering a diverse research culture at the intersection of three different fields namely, theoretical, experimental Physics and computer science. The team members will work to build hardware for the next generation of the ion trap quantum processor.
