Professor John Chambers is the Toh Kian Chui Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Programme Director of the Population and Global Health Research Programme at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), Nanyang Technological University. The vision of our research program is to retain the workflows of software construction as they exist today in the form of Continuous Integration (CI) systems, and yet support automated software evolution with formal correctness guarantees, thereby engendering trust in automatically generated code. Our research program can help achieve such a vision via analysis, verification, and test generation. Applications of repair studied in the program will include security vulnerability repair, patch transplantation across versions of major software systems such as Linux, as well as the use of agentic workflows to automate software evolution.

You will work on pioneering projects that advance the application of AI and ML within the realm of software engineering. This role offers the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research, develop novel algorithms, and contribute to the development of software tools that enhance system performance, reliability, and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct applied research in integrating AI/ML techniques with software engineering practices to improve code quality, testing, and software maintenance.
• Design and implement experimental prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of new methodologies.

Requirements and Skills

• Master's or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field.
• Strong research background in AI, ML, and/or SE with a solid publication record in A and A* level conferences/journals. Minimum of 2 publications in top-tier conferences or journals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a research setting.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts.
• Experience in developing tools or frameworks that utilize AI/ML to enhance software development processes.
• Experience with DevOps tooling, such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Ansible.
• Experience with general-purpose languages, such as Java, C#, C/C++, Python, Rust

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a strong passion to identify and validate novel molecular targets, biomarkers, and therapeutic drugs in vitro and in vivo disease models against neurodegeneration in our Neural Stem Cell Research Laboratory of National Neuroscience Institute of Singapore (Novena Campus).

The laboratory focuses on the elucidating the molecular mechanisms the underlie the miRNA-mediated neurodegeneration; developing potential biomarkers with therapeutic applications in neurological disorders; characterizing pathological features of neurodegenerative diseases in different disease models, including patient iPSCs-derived cerebral organoids and transgenic mouse models.

Applicants with relevant background in molecular genetics, neural stem cells, miRNA biology, drug development or related fields are invited to apply. Successful candidates must be highly motivated, are passionate about research and be able to work in an interdisciplinary environment.

Job Requirements

• PHD in Life Sciences with wet laboratory experience, majoring in Genetics / Biochemistry & Cellular Biology / Neuroscience/ Pharmacology or related discipline.
