Overview:

We are seeking an energetic and organized Shift Manager to oversee the daily operations of our restaurant during designated shifts. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth operations, deliver exceptional customer service, and maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and safety. This role is pivotal in fostering teamwork and motivating staff to exceed performance expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Shift Operations:

• Manage the restaurant’s operations during assigned shifts.

• Ensure all opening, mid-shift, and closing duties are completed efficiently.

2. Staff Management:

• Supervise, train, and mentor team members to perform at their best.

• Schedule and delegate tasks to optimize productivity.

• Address and resolve any team conflicts professionally.

3. Customer Service:

• Maintain high standards of hospitality and address customer inquiries or complaints promptly.

• Oversee the dining area to ensure a positive guest experience.

4. Inventory and Supplies:

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the kitchen and suppliers to ensure stock availability.

• Minimize waste by adhering to portion controls and reducing unnecessary costs.

5. Health and Safety Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene standards.

• Conduct routine inspections of food preparation and service areas.

6. Financial Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily cash handling, including closing tills and preparing shift reports.

• Monitor labor and operational costs during shifts to ensure profitability.

Requirements

1. Experience and Skills:

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within the restaurant or hospitality industry (2+ years preferred).

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Customer service-oriented with problem-solving abilities.

2. Technical Knowledge:

• Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic financial processes.

• Understanding of food safety regulations and certifications (e.g., Food Handler’s License or equivalent).

3. Personal Attributes:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.

• Exceptional time management and multitasking skills.

• A proactive and positive attitude toward challenges and team-building.

4. Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field is a plus).

This position will report to the Supervisor/ Operations Manager

The working location is within walking distance from Bras Basah MRT station and City Hall MRT station.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist the team to perform preparation, table set up and ensure the proper handling of all operating equipment
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the restaurant menu and products to provide excellent service
• Escort guests to their table and provide recommendation and information proactively
• Ensure orders are keyed into Point-of-Sale system accurately and efficiently
• Manage and resolve any concerns and questions from guests
• Handle reservations, inquiries and channel all telephone messages received to the relevant party
• Adhere to the compliance of sanitation and safety regulations
• Provide guidance, and train new staff on restaurant operations

Job Requirements:

• 1 - 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in Fine Dining
• Prior experience working in a preopening team would be advantageous
• Possess strong knowledge in food (relevant cuisine) and beverage
• Comfortable with flexible work hours including shifts, split shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Supervision of staff: The Restaurant Supervisor supervises restaurant staff, including servers, hosts/hostesses, bartenders, and other support staff, and ensures that they perform their duties effectively and efficiently.

Ordering and inventory management: The Restaurant Supervisor may be responsible for ordering supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring that the restaurant has adequate supplies to meet demand.

Financial management: The Restaurant Supervisor may be responsible for managing the restaurant's financial operations, including cash handling, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Quality control: The Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the food served in the restaurant meets the highest quality standards and that all dishes are prepared according to recipes and customer preferences.
