The Communications Coordinator, APAC, will be responsible for developing written and visual content for assigned communications programs, coordinating participation in events and conferences, and supporting media relations for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. In addition, this individual will contribute to larger-visibility programs and help create and drive global communications strategies.
This is a junior, entry level position that reports to the Head of Communications, APAC.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Produce graphics, videos, and animated GIF for social media.
- Coordinate compilation of stories and assist in the publication of regional newsletters.
- Create social media posts for organic campaigns across X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, WeChat, and Weibo.
- Run paid campaigns and provide post-campaign social media reports.
- Coordinate with the Creative Services team to upload regional event photos to ICANN Flickr album.
- Assist in the distribution of press releases.
- Assist in the compilation of media interview briefs.
- Maintain the media contact database for APAC.
- Monitor and track media coverage.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to publish announcements and blogs.
- Submit creative briefs and open tickets for the creative team’s support (infographics, news feature, promo items designs, banners for events, and stickers, etc.).
- Track speaking opportunities and events for ICANN representatives.
- Update the engagement calendar on icann.org to reflect speaking engagements.
- Support Communications-related requests in the regional office.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and ICANN community members.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Two years of Communications experience.
- Knowledge of public relations and social media best practices.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, especially the ability to write effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Good working knowledge of Creative Suite - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva.
- Working understanding of and experience in media relations and social media (strategy and execution).
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and to establish and follow through on priorities.
- Ability to quickly learn the ICANN environment.
- Detail orientation is a must.
- Able to manage continuous change in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.
- Ability to travel internationally.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. The successful candidate is expected to participate in meetings and discussions in different time zones, as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, study in Communications or a related field desired. Minimum two years of related work experience required.
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese because of APAC coverage of work. Other official United Nations languages are a plus.
