Key responsibilities:

The successful candidate may be responsible for but not limited to:

• Design and develop biocatalytic systems or enzymes for the sustainable (bio)-production of chemicals
• Comfortable in the use of advanced technology, including AI/machine learning to help accelerate development

Requirements:

• PhD in Chemistry, Biocatalysis, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Protein engineering or its equivalent
• Strong background in biocatalysis, protein engineering, chemistry, molecular biology and/or biotechnology
• More than 5 years of post-PhD experience preferred
• In depth experience with PCR, protein expression, and/or analytical techniques such as biochemical assays, spectroscopy and chromatography
• Adaptable to team-oriented goals and requirements
• Rigorous data analysis, interpretation, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral/written communication, documentation and organization skills
• Meticulous, attention to details and organized
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task

Asian School of the Environment (ASE) is hiring a research assistant to assist in field and laboratory data collection in a new, Nparks-funded project entitled: “Comparison of litterfall nutrient cycling between forests and urban green spaces in Singapore”.

The research assistant will work closely with three other team members to collect data for this project, with a focus on sequencing large numbers of invertebrate and microbe samples.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct lab work to sort and sequence invertebrate and soil/litter microbe samples
• Conduct field work to natural forests and urban parks to collect leaf litter, soil and invertebrate samples
• Conduct lab work to process and analyze nutrient contents in leaf litter and soil samples
• Assist in procuring project logistics and other project administrative duties
• Train students and ensure the safe conduct of student research projects

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in biology, zoology, ecology, environmental science, or equivalent
• Competent in basic molecular taxonomy skills, such as DNA extraction, PCR, running gels, processing of sequence data, etc.
• Able to do regular (up to thrice weekly) fieldwork
• Good team player
• Good attitude towards learning the many skills and techniques necessary to execute this project
• Prior experience with entomological work is advantageous, but not a requirement for application
• Keen interest in nature/entomology/botany

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting research in digital signal processing, in particular the detection and localization of active and passive targets via wireless RF signals in the harsh environment.
• Conducting both theoretical development of methods and experiment design to validate the developed methods.
• Co-supervising junior researchers/interns/students, carrying out detailed literature review and assessment of the state-of-the-art technologies. planning and executing detailed R&D activities in order to meet project objectives and deadlines, generating novel scientific or technological concepts for application of breakthrough nature and contributing to research proposals.
• Taking charge of administrative responsibilities such as safety, asset management and other aspects related to being a member of Temasek Labs@NTU.

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or other related fields
• Strong background and knowledge in modern RF communications / digital signal processing particularly in Radar or Array processing.
• Strong algorithm development and programming skills on MATLAB
• Familiarity with Ettus USRP devices, GNU Radio/Labview programming are plus factors.
• Good publication record.
