Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. In this context, our lab has extensive experience in metagenomic analysis and has developed several widely used tools in this field. We?re now focusing on new methods to obtain a comprehensive catalogue of complete genomes at the strain level from metagenomic samples, which can be further leveraged for comparative genomic analysis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with unique access to next-generation sequencing technologies and a wide range of samples. Solutions developed during this project will have direct applications to ongoing and new microbiome research projects in the lab, particularly in studying antimicrobial resistance and skin diseases.

The Centre has launched the “Digital Healthcare Transformation (DHT) Initiative,” a multi-year program to boost public-private partnerships in digital health, data, and AI. This initiative complements the Global Health Equity Network (GHEN), which promotes health equity and patient-centred system transformation.

Singapore, a leader in healthcare delivery and equity due to its investment in digital health, will be highlighted as a World Economic Forum Centre for Health and a Healthcare Country Lighthouse. This collaboration aims to showcase Singapore’s healthcare success globally and identify opportunities for Public-Private Partnerships to advance health equity through digital transformation.

The Fellowship role will manage projects and provide expertise on Health Equity, access to care, and social determinants of health. The Fellow will support the Forum’s work in developing Singapore as a Country Lighthouse, conduct research on its health system transformation, and share insights on health equity. They will also coordinate with regional working groups and engage with local and global partners, including the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network and the Accelerators Network, and contribute to the Forum's Health Equity strategy and broader global efforts.

A*Star-IME is currently working on establishing a hybrid fabrication platform for 150mm and 200mm Silicon Carbide (SiC) power MOSFETs as a new pillar on Singapore"s Future of Microlectronics in wide-bandgap. The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant position in Dr Mohammad Alfatah’s lab, part of Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The lab focuses on discovering anti-aging interventions to delay ageing and chronic disease onset, increase healthspan and improve life quality. Appointments will be on a 1-year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to and work closely with Dr Mohammad Alfatah to provide support in research projects with a specific focus on discovering chemical (drugs, natural products, metabolites, etc) and genetic anti-aging interventions. This includes assessing the effectiveness of potential compounds in various age-related disease models.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform daily basic chemical and genetic high-throughput screening in yeast and human cells, molecular biology experiments related to DNA, RNA, protein and cell culture work.
