The World Economic Forum (the Forum) is an International Organisation for Public-Private Cooperation, engaging global leaders to shape major agendas across sectors. Its Centre for Health and Healthcare focuses on enhancing healthcare systems by scaling solutions for resilience, efficiency, and equity through diverse stakeholder engagement.

The Centre has launched the “Digital Healthcare Transformation (DHT) Initiative,” a multi-year program to boost public-private partnerships in digital health, data, and AI. This initiative complements the Global Health Equity Network (GHEN), which promotes health equity and patient-centred system transformation.

Singapore, a leader in healthcare delivery and equity due to its investment in digital health, will be highlighted as a World Economic Forum Centre for Health and a Healthcare Country Lighthouse. This collaboration aims to showcase Singapore’s healthcare success globally and identify opportunities for Public-Private Partnerships to advance health equity through digital transformation.

The Fellowship role will manage projects and provide expertise on Health Equity, access to care, and social determinants of health. The Fellow will support the Forum’s work in developing Singapore as a Country Lighthouse, conduct research on its health system transformation, and share insights on health equity. They will also coordinate with regional working groups and engage with local and global partners, including the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network and the Accelerators Network, and contribute to the Forum's Health Equity strategy and broader global efforts.

The Health Equity effort in Singapore as well as the proposed pilot place-based change programme(s) will link to a broader global Global Health Equity strategy and pre-existing place-based change work (launching by the GHEN in 2024). We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join Life Science Institute – Healthy Longevity programme. The successful candidate will work with Professor Brian Kennedy to conduct interdisciplinary research in healthy longevity science. The candidate will need to apply knowledge in various areas (e.g. basic science, public health, social sciences, data analyses, business) to design, conduct, present and translate research findings into practice. The candidate will also get the opportunities to develop their own research ideas, screen and apply for funding, and collaborate with experts both within and outside the institute. Ultimately, the candidate will work with the team to advance the field of Healthy Longevity research in Singapore and globally.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct interdisciplinary research projects in the field of healthy longevity science, which include collaborations with public-private partners and the general public
• Analyse and present research data in both textual and visual formats for diverse audience
• Collaborate with faculty researchers to identify research with high public interest and translate scientific concepts into accessible content
• Identify new opportunities for collaboration and funding both within the institute and with external partners

• Develop epitaxial processes for selective and non-selective growth of Ge and SiGe layers on Si substrates.
• Improve baseline processes for high-quality SiGe and Ge epitaxy: control uniformity and thickness and minimize threading dislocation density.
• Design epitaxial structures and develop processes for Ge and SiGe photodetectors (PD) and electro-absorption modulators (EAM) devices, integrating Ge/SiGe devices into Silicon photonic circuits.
• Troubleshoot to maintain tool and process quality. Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Out-of-Control Plans, and other technical documentation to maintain processes and tools.
• Perform metrology and characterization of SiGe and Ge epilayers (e.g., dopant and thickness uniformity, surface roughness, crystal quality, stress, carrier lifetime, etc.).
• Correlate SiGe and Ge crystal defects (type and density) with device performance and yield, and with device processing conditions.
