Optimizing the performance of health systems is essential to ensuring the wellbeing and longevity of populations worldwide. Job Description

The multidisciplinary team of researchers in health systems (health services and policy researchers, data scientists, social scientists, and others), and administrators working in CRiHSP will provide an exciting and dynamic place in which people of diverse backgrounds collaborate towards the common goal of achieving excellence in Health Systems Research. The team will further benefit from a significant expansion in related fields and collaborations with the Department of family Medicine at the National University Health System (NUHS), the new Centre for Sustainable Medicine (CoSM) and the Centre for Behavioural and Implementation Sciences Interventions (BISI) at the School of Medicine and the Saw See Hock School of Public Health.

NUS offers highly competitive remuneration packages. The successful applicant will be offered an annual salary plus benefits commensurate with his or her qualifications, experience and expertise and will have access to travel support to disseminate research outcomes at international academic conferences.

The position is a 2-year full-time appointment at the academic rank of Senior Research Fellow (particularly strong applications at the level of Research Fellow will be considered). Purpose of the post

CRiHSP is hiring a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise in health services and policy research and evaluation combined with experience translating science and evidence into real-world change. They will make a significant contribution to setting up and developing the centre at this crucial stage in relation to its research, training, evaluation and engagement areas of activity. The successful candidate will report to the CRiHSP Director of Research. The role provides a rare opportunity to work at the centre of this rapidly evolving field, shaping the future of healthcare and clinical practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

• Establishing an independent research programme as aligned with CRiHSP priorities by securing external funding;
• Supervising of junior research staff in data collection, analysis and dissemination;
• Contributing to research programmes and projects led by other researchers in CRiHSP;
• Facilitating the integration and curation of clinical and other routinely collected data across (NUHS)
• Contributing to postgraduate course design and teaching and on the job training of evaluation fellows; and
• Mentoring of students and junior researchers.

In the future, Singapore may be importing renewable energy in the form of hydrogen (H2) or ammonia (NH3). These zero-carbon fuels will require the development of new gas turbines (GTs) and internal combustion engines (ICE) used in power generation, aviation, and maritime propulsion.

This project focuses on the combustion fundamentals of hydrogen, ammonia, their blends, and their blends with hydrocarbon fuels. The knowledge acquired in HYCOMBS will enable the penetration of zero-carbon fuels in the Singapore energy system and this will benefit Singaporean industries and residents.

DESCRIPTION

In the WP4 of HYCOMBS project, the objective is to improve the combustion process in medium-duty engine. Retrofit engine in order to fill with ammonia requires some small changes, mainly relative to its auto-ignition characteristics. If the compression ratio is not higher than 20, to reach compression ignition more reactive species are needed as the pilot injection of diesel (Advanced Compression Ignition Engine) or to add a spark plug (Si engine with diesel flow field). Up today, even if the number of works on Ammonia engine increase (80 papers in 2024) it is evident that the processes are not sufficiently characterized to develop accurate tools to predict these combustion development [1], [2], [3].

The objective of this post-doc position is first to provide accurate experimental data base highly resolved in space and time to study the fundamental of combustion using NH3, blended with H2 or Diesel type fuel to help CFD model development. This will be done in an optical combustion chamber in Singapore. Second, experimental engine tests will be done in light duty and medium duty to evaluate the scale change and as a function of the 2 ignition strategies. Combustion specifications, performances and pollutant emissions with a special attention of the NOx emissions will be characterized and analyzed. This will be done in collaboration with NTU team.

DESCRIPTION

In the WP2 of HYCOMBS project, the objective is to improve the knowledge and understanding of flames with non-conventional fuels to improve CFD model. Turbulent-combustion interaction for NH3/air, NH3/CH4/air, NH3/H2/air mixtures remains not well understood and few data are currently available [1-3].

The objective of this post-doc position is to provide accurate experimental data base highly resolved in space and time to study the fundamental of combustion using various NH3, H2 and CH4 blends and to help CFD model development. These tests will be conducted in a spherical combustion chamber with isotropic and homogeneous turbulence at different initial thermodynamics conditions, i.e. temperature and pressure with different types of mixture [4]. In a first part several optical diagnostics will be implemented and evaluated in order to deeply study flame propagation and flame/turbulence interactions such as: PIV, 3D Mie-Scattering tomography as in [5], OH* PLIF, etc. Main part of the work will consist of the data analysis to characterize the interaction. The database will be done and discussed with the others partners of fundamental combustion tasks, and especially CARES team.

Job Description

The Fellowship role will manage projects and provide expertise on Health Equity, access to care, and social determinants of health. The Fellow will support the Forum’s work in developing Singapore as a Country Lighthouse, conduct research on its health system transformation, and share insights on health equity. He/She will also coordinate with regional working groups and engage with local and global partners, including the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network and the Accelerators Network, and contribute to the Forum's Health Equity strategy and broader global efforts.

The Health Equity effort in Singapore as well as the proposed pilot place-based change programme(s) will link to a broader global Global Health Equity strategy and pre-existing place-based change work (launching by the GHEN in 2024). This will provide existing best practice and networks that can be adapted to the new regional efforts in ASEAN.

This role is based in Singapore and hosted within the NUS Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP). The Fellow will be involved in projects from the Forum’s Centre for Health and Healthcare. The Fellow will report directly to the NUS Principal Investigator, as well as to the Forum's Lead for Health Equity.

The fellowship is for 3 years (or until January 2028, whichever comes first, if applicable). Initially, a 1-year contract will be offered, renewable based on performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Research and draft a White Paper on Singapore’s health system transformation journey, including leading interviews with key Health Equity stakeholders and identifying future opportunities for collaboration.
• Develop and execute a dissemination plan for key learnings from the paper, including public engagement opportunities and convening interested stakeholders to share best practice.
• Support the broader GHEN team to incubate and manage a regional public-private working group focused on specific Health Equity gaps and opportunities identified in the research, to support the building on existing Singapore-led work in Southeast Asia to scale regional health equity development and innovation; and incorporating key topics in health equity such as access, trust, and impact measurement.
• Contribute to the Forum’s broader global Health Equity strategy with Singapore-based insights and case studies - linking also to the Digital Healthcare Transformation Initiative in partnership with the Digital Healthcare Transformation Fellow.
• Drive partner engagement opportunities in Singapore with all relevant stakeholder groups across sectors.

Qualifications
