The CPPS group is seeking a highly motivated scientist or senior scientist to lead and conduct research in Industry 5.0 smart manufacturing solutions and integrating digital technologies with AI-enabled physical production systems that promote human-centricity, environmental sustainability, and value chain resilience in manufacturing. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in controls and/or automation. Knowledge of PLC programming would be a strong advantage.

The key roles & responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Research into novel adaptive and autonomous control algorithms for scalable self-learning, self-optimizing and self-recovery production systems
• Working with a team of scientists and engineers to design and implement integrated IIOT and AI-enabled production systems for smart manufacturing
• Formulate scientific research directions and innovative proposals to secure competitive funding
• Understand the autonomous manufacturing domain and provide innovative solutions to industry problems in this area
• Familiarity with industry communication protocols such as OPC-UA, MQTT, Profibus, and RS-232 is needed

SIMTech is looking for a highly motivated, quick learner with excellent interpersonal skills to join Additive Technology Innovation (ATI) Group. The successful candidate will have opportunities to participate in research and industry projects in additive manufacturing (AM) and be involved in a highly challenging and dynamic research and development environment by working with scientists and engineers. The lab officer’s responsibilities include sample preparation, characterization, measurement, and mechanical testing. The lab officer also supports group’s research activities through procurement, equipment maintenance, risks assessments, including:

• Hand-on work such as preparing, operating and unpacking AM printers.
• Perform material testing, sample preparation, dimensional measurements, surface quality inspection, microstructure & defects analysis.
• Tracking and managing lab and group’s resource utilization, procurement, and delivery.
• Storage space management and optimization.
• Ensure high operational readiness by liaising with vendors to troubleshooting breakdowns preventive maintenance, and repairs.
• Facilitating mechanical and electrical installations for new equipment.
• Assist in lab equipment operation, collection of process data and analysis of results.
• Secondary roles related to health, safety, environment, and procurement to manage the Risk Assessment (RA), Standard Working Procedures (SWP), Permit to Work (PTW), and chemical purchasing and storage.
• Identify and recommend improvement measurements to ensuring high quality in lab safety and 5S standards.
