We are looking for a Research Fellow to develop sensors and mitigants for bacterial contaminations in the cellular agriculture industry. An essential part of this research work is using protein-protein interactions (PPI) of the target bacteria both as basis for sensors development and as targets for mitigation. Peptides based on these PPI interfaces will serve for sensing the target bacteria as well as starting points for non-antibiotic mitigants. The job will include identifying potential target protein-protein interactions of the bacteria, designing and synthesizing peptides derived from these PPI interfaces, evaluating their inhibitory activity and antimicrobial activity and developing more advanced and active derivatives. Experience in peptide design and synthesis and in protein biochemistry is required, with expertise in recombinant protein expression and purification being an advantage. as well as independence and creativity.

In this programme of work, the tripartite model of adaptability will be used to examine Singapore Physical Education (PE) Teachers’ level of adaptability. The model involves cognitive, behavioural and emotional adaptability and refers to how an individual’s thinking, behaviour and emotions can be modified. In the context of PE teachers, the subject of PE is underpinned by a high level of variability and dynamism of the teaching environment as well as interaction among students and the PE teacher (e.g., physical classroom, CCA, outdoor education, values-based education). Unlike other subjects, the teaching and learning situation can transit quite quickly and there is greater uncertainty on the emergence of students’ learning behaviours as they interact with the learning task and environment.

In this programme of work, the research team would build on their previous research experiences and track records to i) examine how adaptable Singapore PE teachers are (Phase 1), ii) the factors that could impact the level of adaptability (e.g., perceived autonomy support, socio-demographic variables, resilience, and creativity) (Phase 1) and iii) if PE teachers with higher adaptability levels are more inclined to adopt innovative pedagogical practices (Phase 2).

Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Fellow to join our interdisciplinary research team. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge theoretical and computational research in the following areas:

Research Areas:

1. Electromagnetism and Plasmonics: Theory and computational modeling of electromagnetism in complex media, plasmonic systems, and metamaterials, with a particular focus on cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) and interactions between light and matter at the nanoscale.
2. Inverse Design in Nanophotonics and Quantum Nanophotonics: Application of inverse design techniques to optimize and design novel photonic structures and devices, including metasurfaces, photonic crystals, and quantum nanophotonic systems.

• Produce mathematical proofs for conjectures that arise from numerical studies

Temasek Laboratories@NTU is looking for a candidate to join them as a Senior Research Scientist.

Key Responsibilities:

• The candidate will be expected lead and conduct research in urban sensing, specially the detection, localization and classification of active and passive targets via wireless RF signals in harsh urban environments.
• The candidate will be responsible for both theoretical development of methods and experiment design to validate the developed methods.
• Additional research responsibilities include supervising junior researchers, interns, and students; conducting detailed literature review and assessment of the state-of-the-art technologies; planning and executing detailed R&D activities to meet project objectives and deadlines; generating novel scientific or technological concepts for application of breakthrough nature and contributing to research proposals.
• Administrative responsibilities may include safety management, asset management, and other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related fields
• Strong background and knowledge in modern RF communications/ digital signal processing particularly in wireless communications and RF Array processing, with at least 10 years of research experience.
• Proven track record in research and development of algorithms.
• Proficiency in algorithm development and programming skills using MATLAB or Phyton.
• Knowledge of machine learning or deep learning techniques.
• Familiarity with Ettus USRP devices, GNU Radio/LabVIEW programming is an advantage.
• Strong publication record.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
