We are looking for a motivated bioinformatics specialist who is keen on studying how microbes contribute to common skin diseases such as eczema and acne. Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. We have extensive experience in metagenomic analysis in clinically or commercially important contexts such as uncovering distinct microbial communities in households affected by paediatric eczema (PMID: 35318044) and revealing the microbial basis of body odour in teenagers (PMID: 30497517). We are now focusing on applying various -omics capabilities to larger sized disease cohorts to understand how microbial pathways and biomarkers change with disease progression and treatment. Project Overview

The AMR IRG is an interdisciplinary community of biologists, engineers, and clinicians from MIT and Singapore, sharing a state-of-the art research facility and united by a commitment to providing a supportive intellectual environment where students and staff can learn, grow, and contribute to solving a pressing societal problem.

The objective of this project is to advance the field of RNA analysis by developing and implementing innovative analytical tools. These tools will be used in a comprehensive study of all forms of RNA -- the ribonucleome -- and the >170 RNA modifications -- the epitranscriptome -- in disease pathobiology, host-pathogen interactions, biomarker development, and therapeutic target discovery.

Responsibilities

The Research Engineer will plan and conduct experiments with the aim of studying the roles of RNA modifications in human immunue diseases. The candidate will work primarily on cell culture, RNA isolation, and chromatography-coupled mass spectrometry analysis. Job Description

Research Fellow position is open in the research group of Assistant Professor Zhao Lin, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on theories and applications of learning-based control. The project will investigate and develop both deep reinforcement learning algorithms and conventional robust adaptive control methods, to develop safety-critical learning-based control algorithms that leverage the advantages of both model-based and model-free methods. In particular, the developed algorithms will be demonstrated through robust control of drones.

The initial appointment duration is 12 months, which can then be extended based on an evaluation at the end of the initial appointment.

The candidates will be responsible for conducting theoretical research and algorithm development. The candidates are expected to help the PI supervise junior PhD students as well.

The team members will work to build electronics to control the ion trap quantum processor. That includes digital design, RF and microwave sources and low noise analog / digital front end. Job Requirements

We are looking for several electrical engineers to join the small team of scientists and engineers working on the next generation of the ion trap quantum processor. The candidate should have:

• Bachelor or Master degree in electronics, electrical engineering or related fields;
• At least 1-2 years of experience in electronics design is preferred;
• Experience in programmable digital logic design using Verilog or VHDL, digital signal processing, and familiarity with control theory;
• Design and characterisation of low noise electronics for the analog front end, good understanding of the noise sources in electronic circuits;

Job Description:

• Perform laboratory experiments for Circular Bioeconomy projects, such as microbial isolation, flask fermentation, bioreactor fermentation and analysis using assays, analysers, chromatography and quantitative PCR.
• Plan experimental work in close collaboration with supervisor. More experienced candidates will have greater independence in planning, executing and trouble-shooting their own work.
• Analyse, organise and summarise experimental results for reporting to supervisor. More experienced candidates will have greater freedom in interpreting, evaluating and reporting results to stakeholders.
• Maintain laboratory and equipment in good and productive order, such as purchasing consumables, organising and tidying lab, maintaining equipment and writing SOPs.
• Uphold high safety and integrity standards, complying with all HSEP (Health, Safety and Environmental Protection) rules and regulations, as well as SIFBI internal rules.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in food science or Life Sciences, such as Biotechnology.
• Previous work or internship experience with laboratory work is preferable.
• Experience and preference for hands-on experimental work in a laboratory.
• Experience with microbiological and aseptic techniques. Experience with fermentation and bioreactors is advantageous.
• Experience with analytical techniques such as biochemical assays, spectroscopy and chromatography. Experience with PCR techniques is advantageous.
• Experience with software tools such as MS Office, Teams, MatLab, MiniTab, and various proprietary scientific soft wares such as for biotechnological and analytical equipment.
• The ideal candidate is passionate about science and sustainability, self-motivated, organised, detail-oriented, and has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator (PI) and his study team to successfully deliver research outcomes in the areas of ageing, stroke and cardiovascular diseases.

Familiarity and experience with molecular, cell biology, staining, advanced microscopy techniques, and computational analytical methods will be considered favorably.

Preference will be given to candidates who are able to analyse omics data and with familiarity with statistical softwares including SPSS or R.

Responsibilities also include the day to day management of laboratory operations such as procurement, preventive maintenance of equipment and laboratory safety.

Qualifications
