The Role

The appointee is engaged to manage the Science Curriculum in the Junior School.

The role reports to the Head of Junior School through the Deputy Head Academic (Junior School).

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum planning and assessment:

• Use data from formative and summative assessments to look at standards achieved within the subject and identify areas for further development.
• Monitor standards of the science curriculum through regular work/planning scrutiny and learning walks.
• Liaise with the Heads of Science (Infant and Senior Schools) to ensure that there is a standardised approach to the management of the science curriculum across the school and ensuring that continuity and progression are maintained.
• Develop, in conjunction with year teams and the Deputy Head Academic, forms of assessment and record keeping.
• Ensure targets are identified and met on the Junior Subject Action Plan and the school’s School Improvement Plan (SIP).
• Produce, evaluate, develop and update summary information documents for parents.
• Ensure that health and safety requirements are taken heed of in the planning and delivery of the subject.
• Oversee the implementation of STEAM within the curriculum.
• Fulfill CCA commitment.

Management of teaching staff:

• Support year group teams to plan for the subject effectively, providing guidance and support to teaching staff as and when required, which may include organising and arranging a programme of staff inset.
• Lead Vertical Curriculum Team meetings and publishing the minutes.
• Line manage additional staff to ensure the successful running of the Science Laboratory and resources, including leading their performance review regularly through Clear Review conversations

Management of resources:

• Resource the subject within an allocated budget by ordering materials and stock and checking, controlling, distributing materials and stock on arrival, and as required, and ensuring such equipment is maintained.

Development:

• Keep abreast of current developments in science education and adapting curriculum content and methods of teaching as appropriate.
• Liaise with other Heads of Curriculum and Heads of Year to develop cross-curricular links.
• Plan, produce, evaluate, develop and update curriculum policy documents and schemes of work, and guiding and monitoring their implementation within the subject across the Junior School.
• Organise and arrange occasional initiatives (which may include presentations to parents) whenever the subject is part of a school curriculum focus.
• Contribute to school publications when requested.
• Maintain your own on-going professional development in accordance with the requirements of the school and maintain an accurate and up to date record of that professional development.

The successful candidate will work with Dr Li Xinwei on optical condensed matter experiments under the project of “Quantum inspired protocols for light engineering of correlated materials.”

Qualifications/Requirements

(1) Optical pump-probe spectroscopy

A qualified candidate will be self-motivated with strong technical and analytical skills as well as possess practical and hands-on approach to engineering control in the areas of metrology management

Responsibilities:

• Recipe creation and optimisation for new R&D applications requirement.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance planning cum execution and vendor management.
• To take charge of new tools technical assessment and tender creation (equipment cum process application startup) and service contract tender set-up
• Drive continuous improvement projects (CIP) to achieve better measurement repeatability (MSA, GR&R, SPC etc).
• To set-up appropriate process and product control plan and out of control action plans (OCAP)
• Provide technical training to related staff on best-known practices in terms of application metrology recipe creation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics, Material, Physics or Chemical engineering
• Minimum 3~5 years of hands-on semiconductor experience (preferably in metrology application and equipment maintenance)

Job Description

The Division of Allergy & Immunology at the Department of Paediatrics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates with a keen interest in clinical translational research in allergic disease to join our team as a Research Assistant. We run large cohort studies, observational and population health studies in Paediatric Allergy and Immunology to better understand childhood allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis (eczema) and food allergy, with the goal of understanding disease prevalence, natural history and endophenotypes; developing diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies and advocating for clinical policy changes that would serve to improve health outcomes for children with allergic disorders.

Appointments will be made on an annual contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and collaborate with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to conduct various research projects in the field of Paediatric Allergy & Immunology to ensure the successful completion of study measures in a timely manner to achieve high quality and impactful deliverables. The RA’s principal role will be to perform clinical research-related procedures such as subject screening and recruitment, subject follow-ups, coordinating the collection and processing of biological samples, data collection, management and processes, data entry, cleaning and analysis.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will be involved in conducting research visits and study procedures and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI) and Project Lead.

The RA will :

1. Assist with Subject screening and recruitment, conduct study visits, perform study procedures and collection of data sets and in strict adherence to approved study protocols, ICH Good Clinical Practice and other applicable regulatory bodies;
2. Assist with biological sample processing, storage and analysis;
3. Maintenance and organization of the investigator site files (ISF), preparation and submissions of documents and/or reports (e.g study amendments, study status reports) to the ethics committee;
4. Assist with grant status reports and preparation of study progress slides during regular meetings with Co-Is and Collaborators;

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist with consolidation and management of data, data cleaning and data analysis;
2. Conduct literature review, manuscript preparation and administrative aspects in relation to grant write up and submissions;
3. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI and/or Project Lead.
4. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures, and uphold a culture of camaraderie and excellence in the team

Qualifications

2. Have Basic Laboratory skills e.g pipetting, centrifugation

5. Have basic computer literacy in applications such as MS office (Word, Excel) PowerPoint and Adobe
