The Global Centre for Asian Women’s Health (GloW) aims to build a global research platform for transdisciplinary endeavours to address major health concerns over a woman's lifespan and across generations. Through its main hub in Singapore, the Centre will engage in multi-disciplinary research to promote women’s health, including a series of diet and lifestyle intervention studies.

Purpose of the role

The project coordinator/manager will play a key role in dietary intervention studies by actively managing and coordinating diet and lifestyle intervention studies in GloW. Responsibilities include performing administrative duties to ensure the studies’ success and compliance. The staff will work closely with Principal Investigators of intervention studies, collaborate closely with the research team, food service team, and other relevant stakeholders, as well as undertake other ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by the Centre’s Director as needed.

We are looking for a motivated bioinformatics specialist who is keen on studying how microbes contribute to common skin diseases such as eczema and acne. Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. We have extensive experience in metagenomic analysis in clinically or commercially important contexts such as uncovering distinct microbial communities in households affected by paediatric eczema (PMID: 35318044) and revealing the microbial basis of body odour in teenagers (PMID: 30497517). We are now focusing on applying various -omics capabilities to larger sized disease cohorts to understand how microbial pathways and biomarkers change with disease progression and treatment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with unique access to next-generation sequencing technologies and a wide range of samples. HYCOMBS: Hydrogen and Ammonia Combustion in Singapore

In the future, Singapore may be importing renewable energy in the form of hydrogen (H2) or ammonia (NH3). These zero-carbon fuels will require the development of new gas turbines (GTs) and internal combustion engines (ICE) used in power generation, aviation, and maritime propulsion.

This project focuses on the combustion fundamentals of hydrogen, ammonia, their blends, and their blends with hydrocarbon fuels. The knowledge acquired in HYCOMBS will enable the penetration of zero-carbon fuels in the Singapore energy system and this will benefit Singaporean industries and residents.

The HYCOMB project aims to develop a deeper understanding of hydrogen/ammonia combustion phenomena and improve the efficiency, stability, and environmental sustainability of gas turbines and internal combustion engines. As a Postdoctoral Researcher in WP2.1, you will play a key role in deploying advanced diagnostics to study laminar H2/NH3 flames, a crucial step towards understanding combustion instability and pollutant formation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate a burner for laminar flame experiments, compatible with high-frequency diagnostics
• Conduct experiments on steady and pulsated laminar H2/NH3 flames using spontaneous emission of radicals (OH*, NH*) and laser absorption spectroscopy of stable species (NH3, H2O, N2O)
• Modulate injection conditions to induce controlled fluctuations of velocity, which will drive the oscillation of heat release, pollutant formation, and other quantities of interest
• Measure local flow conditions using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) to correlate flame behavior with flow strain
• Collaborate with other partners to implement laser absorption spectroscopy in other rigs and validate kinetic schemes and simulations (WP1)
• Contribute to the development of laser absorption spectroscopy diagnostics for online detection of combustion efficiency, ammonia slip, and N2O pollutant emissions

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Combustion Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field
• Strong background in experimental combustion, flame diagnostics, and data analysis
• Experience with optical diagnostics (ideally laser-induced fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy, but not required)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with international partners
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Desirable Qualifications

• Knowledge of combustion kinetics and modeling

This project aims to advance the field of photon-modulated organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs), with a particular focus on photon-modulated electrochemical doping systems for flexible OECTs. This research is critical for advancing OECT-based circuits in bioelectronics, wearable electronics, and artificial neuromorphic electronics (e.g., optoelectronic synapses). A postdoctoral researcher is sought to contribute to this cutting-edge research, which lies at the intersection of organic semiconductors, materials science, and electrochemistry. The successful candidate will engage in the synthesis of channel-layer materials, the investigation of photoresponsive mechanisms and interfacial electrochemical processes, as well as the development of flexible organic optoelectronic synapses for applications in physiological signal monitoring and related fields.

Qualifications / Discipline:

- The candidates shall obtain PhD or submit PhD thesis in Chemistry or Materials in a research intensive and renowned University or Research Institute. The candidate shall publish a few papers on top journals.
