The Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) is an academic research centre in Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore. Drawing on its multidisciplinary expertise and collaborations across medical, social, psychological, economic, and environmental perspectives, CARE’s research is situated in eight broad thematic areas: Population Health, Social and Psychological Aspects of Ageing, Family Caregiving, Productive Ageing, Falls Prevention, Community-Based Health and Social Care Services, Ageing and the Environment, and Health Communication.

CARE actively engages with government and community partners to identify research gaps and inform implementation strategies to enhance the experience of ageing in Singapore. CARE is a vibrant centre with individuals from diverse academic and personal backgrounds, and values the energy, passion, and thought leadership of promising scholars who desire to achieve health, social inclusion, and a high quality of life for older adults, and their caregivers, in Singapore.

CARE’s quantitative research on ageing in Singapore is based on individual-level data collected through both cross-sectional and longitudinal community-based surveys of older adults and/or their caregivers. CARE is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher to join the team as a Research Fellow, for conducting quantitative research and its publication and dissemination. A Senior Research Fellow position will be offered to candidates who demonstrate substantial relevant work experience and advanced skills in the field.

• Conceptualize and conduct quantitative analyses of individual-level survey data
• Draft and submit at least 4 papers per year in high-impact scientific journals, as lead author or co-author
• Write and edit policy/research briefs (at least 1 per year)
• Present and disseminate findings at international and national conferences, stakeholder meetings, and in public media outlets
• Develop and conduct workshops in quantitative research methods (at least 1 per year)
• Supervise and support the conduct of cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys
• Lead or assist in the writing and submission of competitive grant applications
• Assist with CARE’s other initiatives where required

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Gerontology, Sociology, Demography, Epidemiology, Economics, Public Policy, Public Health, or related fields
• Possess strong quantitative analysis skills and relevant experience in data preparation and analysis
• Familiarity with concepts relevant for geriatrics and gerontology research
• Proficient in Stata or R
• Have excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with others in a multidisciplinary setting

Chugai Pharmabody Research Pte. Ltd. Position – Research Scientist in Pharmacology Unit

CPR is seeking a scientist with expertise in in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies. The candidate will also be responsible for disease target validation and have a strong background in the areas of either immunology and/or inflammation, fibrotic disease biology oncology, or chronic disease-related physiology. The candidate will lead antibody drug discovery project and participate in strategic discussions to advance programs through pipeline.

Job Requirements

The applicant should be highly skilled in at least a few of the following areas:

• Molecular Biology Techniques: Immunoprecipitation (IP), chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), western blotting (WB), gene expression and DNA cloning.
• Confocal Microscopy: Immunostaining, fluorescent protein expression, localization analysis, and protein interaction analysis
• Primary Cell Isolation: Isolating primary immune cells from human blood and urine samples, as well as various mouse organ samples.
• Cell Culture: Culturing primary cells, cell lines, and creating stable cell lines.
• Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting: Proficient in using flow cytometry and cell sorters for cell analysis and sorting.
• Immunological Function Evaluation: Analyzing the immunological functions of macrophages, monocytes, B cells, T cells, neutrophils, NK cells, pDCs, and cDCs, as well as evaluating the functions of compounds.
• Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Technology: Establishing iPSCs and inducing neutrophils and macrophages from iPSCs.
• Exosome Research: Isolating and characterizing exosomes.
• Single Cell RNA Sequencing: Preparing samples for Single Cell RNA-seq.

The applicant must have completed and be awarded with a relevant Master's degree in Science or related field (not in the process of achieving it). In addition, the successful candidates must be able to demonstrate their molecular and cellular biology expertise as evidenced by projects, presentations, or peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Scientists with strong passion in medical science for creating and delivering innovative drugs to society which leads to saving patients suffering from unmet medical needs are highly desired. Familiarity or having prior work experience in antibody drug discovery work will be a plus, although not absolutely necessary. As frequent communication and liaison is expected between both the Singapore and Japan office, you should possess an excellent command of both spoken and written Japanese and English languages, excellent organizational and communication skills, team player mindset, as well as the ability to perform multi-task.

Project Overview

SMART CAMP (Critical Analytics for Manufacturing Personalized-Medicine) is an interdisciplinary research programme in Singapore (CREATE international research campus and innovation hub) and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). SMART CAMP addresses key technology bottlenecks in cell therapy manufacturing: (i) critical quality attributes (CQA) of safe, effective cell therapy products; and (ii) integrated process analytics to monitor and modulate those attributes. Our efforts are focused on allogeneic and autologous cell therapy products, including but not limited to cell sources including adult stem/progenitor cells and immune cells for treatment of specific cancers, tissue degeneration, and autoimmune diseases.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support interdisciplinary projects focused on translating candidate safety Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs) to improve the safety of cell therapy products and patient safety. He/She will work under the supervision of postdoctoral associates in SMART CAMP, with mentorship by principal investigators in Singapore and MIT. The successful candidate’s primary activities include but are not limited to routine mammalian cell culture maintenance and expansion, clinical sample processing and molecular-based activities according to established protocols in SMART CAMP, as well as general housekeeping and maintenance of lab inventory, consumables, SOPs and risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree, or Diploma in a biology-related discipline with minimum 1 year working experience
• Experience in mammalian cell culture is essential
• Experience in molecular biology is essential e.g., nucleic acid isolation, amplification (qPCR, dPCR or isothermal amplification assays) and detection
• Comfortable to work meticulously with clinical samples
• Comfortable/willing to work with BSL2 viruses
• Experience in cell manufacturing is an advantage

Job Description

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Research Fellow to join our team and contribute to our ongoing research projects related to IC design.

Responsibilities:

• Explore heterogeneous systems with silicon chips being integrated on unconventional substrates such as flexible and stretchable, for ultra-low power always-on and intelligent silicon platforms.
• Work on innovative circuit techniques with very wide power-performance scaling to minimize the system energy while providing targeted levels of performance on demand. Such techniques will be investigated for digital sub-systems in advanced technologies.
• Be responsible to conduct research at the circuit level, defining and validating design options and defining new integrated circuit techniques.
