Prof Mary Chan-Park and her team have recently won a highly competitive large grant on the design, synthesis and studies of the improved RNA delivery vehicles.

Prof Mary Chan-Park is currently the Centre Director of the Centre for RNA Delivery Therapeutics. She is also the current President Chair Professor of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (2024 onwards) and the 2019 Board of Trustees Chaired Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (2019-2024), both at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU Singapore). She also holds a joint appointment at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU. She is the Director of the Centre for Antimicrobial Bioengineering and the Director of the NTU Laboratory for RNA Delivery Therapeutics. She is a Fellow of the America Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.

The Research Fellow will take on a significant role to design and synthesize new lipids or polymers that are stimuli-responsive and suitable for nanoparticle delivery formulations. New alternative delivery vehicles for the promising RNA nanomedicine are urgently needed to replace the current ones to achieve great delivery efficacy with less side effects. We have shown that some polymeric or lipid nanoparticles are excellent candidates as delivery agents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and synthesize novel stimuli-responsive lipids or polymers for RNA delivery formulations to achieve efficient transfection and endosomal escape.
• Develop cationic or ionizable lipids or polymers for RNA delivery applications.

Principal Investigator: Associate Professor Catherine ONG, Department of Medicine

The Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory at the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine is looking for highly motivated and well-qualified candidates for the post of Research Fellow to work on Murine models of Tuberculosis. The lab works on translational research i.e. spanning cellular, murine and human TB research. This position provides an excellent opportunity for persons looking to further experience in translational research including robust interactions with clinicians.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will design and execute experiments in M. tuberculosis infection of mice, processing of samples, and associated readouts including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology including immunofluorescence. State-of-the art techniques include spatial transcriptomics and bioinformatics can be learnt and applied. Spatial transcriptomic work is also expected from human tissues. The person will lead in the day-to day running of experiments in the Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) and BSL3 setting, and is expected to work independently, in coordination with other junior and senior team members in the laboratory and clinicians. Supervision of junior lab members such as undergraduates and postgraduate PhD students is expected. Work with live M. tuberculosis is expected in a BSL3 setting.
