Role summary

As a Lead Research Analyst, you will conduct in-depth research on breaking news in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, regarding specific Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) related issues. We focus on maintaining an extensive list of Politically exposed persons (PEP), State owned & invested enterprises (SOE/SIE), Sanctions ownership information, etc.

Daily, you will research and extract data from extensive sources from public domain, ensure accuracy and quality of findings by aligning with policies and applicable laws.

In this programme of work, the tripartite model of adaptability will be used to examine Singapore Physical Education (PE) Teachers’ level of adaptability. The model involves cognitive, behavioural and emotional adaptability and refers to how an individual’s thinking, behaviour and emotions can be modified. In the context of PE teachers, the subject of PE is underpinned by a high level of variability and dynamism of the teaching environment as well as interaction among students and the PE teacher (e.g., physical classroom, CCA, outdoor education, values-based education). Unlike other subjects, the teaching and learning situation can transit quite quickly and there is greater uncertainty on the emergence of students’ learning behaviours as they interact with the learning task and environment.

In this programme of work, the research team would build on their previous research experiences and track records to i) examine how adaptable Singapore PE teachers are (Phase 1), ii) the factors that could impact the level of adaptability (e.g., perceived autonomy support, socio-demographic variables, resilience, and creativity) (Phase 1) and iii) if PE teachers with higher adaptability levels are more inclined to adopt innovative pedagogical practices (Phase 2).

CARES is leading a new project “Sustainable Manufacture of Molecules and Materials (SM3)”, funded by NRF CREATE programme within the Decarbonisation Grand Challenge. The broad aim of the project is to develop novel approaches and technologies for fully de-fossilised routes to complex functional molecules and molecular materials. The project will explore novel chemical transformations for conversion of net-zero feedstocks to building blocks typically used in pharma, agrochem and other end applications. The project will also explore novel synthetic methods for conversion of the building blocks into end-use functional molecules. Who are we looking for?

We are seeking highly motivated combustion researchers to work in the following areas:

1) Kinetics: (i) Experiments with flow reactors and laminar flames. The successful applicant will be skilled in analytical combustion chemistry systems such as gas chromatography and laser detection; (ii) Development of detailed and reduced chemical mechanisms. Experience in combustion chemistry modelling is needed.

2) Laminar and turbulent flame fundamentals: (i) Experiments with laminar pulsed and turbulent swirl flames. Skills in flame rig design, laser diagnostics and optical methods for flames are needed. (ii) Modelling with combustion Computational Fluid Dynamics (DNS, LES), with experience in the fundamentals of turbulent combustion, CFD and massively-parallel computations.

3) High-pressure combustion: Experiments and simulations for reciprocating engines and gas turbines. For the experimental positions, the successful candidate must be skilled in optical diagnostics, engine combustion, swirl combustion, fluids handling and data analysis. For the modelling positions, experience in CFD of engines or gas turbine combustors is a prerequisite.

4) Detonations and ignition risk analysis with CFD. The position involves high-order CFD methods for capturing detonations and turbulent flow analysis for ignition. The successful candidate must be experienced with CFD.

What skills will you need?

All positions require a PhD or equivalent research experience in a combustion topic relevant to the above areas, strong motivation to work in a multi-national collaborative team, and extensive experience with report writing, journal publications, and presentations to academic and industrial settings. The experimental positions need strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols and experience in developing experimental facilities at a professional level.
