Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, NTU is looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in heterogeneous catalysis to develop improved catalyst formulations for conversion of plastic waste into carbon nanotubes and hydrogen.

The project is funded by National Environment Agency, Singapore to address one of the largest problems in waste management – the problem of plastic waste pollution. A significant fraction of plastic waste has substandard quality for mechanical and chemical recycling even after sorting and cleaning. The Research Fellow will use pyrolysis-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology for converting these plastic waste streams (specifically, contaminated and rejected plastics) into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and hydrogen. The role of Research Fellow is to develop catalysts that will allow to reduce catalyst cost and increase carbon nanotubes yield to make the process more economically viable.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be undertaking full research work and administrative duties during the term of employment within the following areas:

• Catalyst formulation and testing in pyrolysis-CVD process;
• Liaising with toll manufacturers regarding the feasibility of scaled up catalyst production.
• Cost-benefit analysis for the developed catalyst(s).
• Publishing research papers and documenting developed intellectual property. Reporting the progress to stakeholders (internal and external).

Tasks

• Conduct Research on AI-Aided Fuzzing: Lead research efforts to explore the integration of large language models (LLMs) with fuzzing techniques for identifying security vulnerabilities in systems. Design experiments and methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-aided fuzzing in comparison to traditional methods.
• Develop AI Models for Fuzzing Enhancement: Develop and implement AI models, including deep learning architectures, reinforcement learning algorithms, and natural language processing techniques, to enhance fuzzing capabilities. Applications are invited for a Research Associate in the NUS Centre for International Law (CIL). This is a one-year contractual position offered in connection to CIL's expansion of its programme on international economic law and policy. The objective of the position is to develop the research capabilities and knowledge of junior scholars by immersing them in a dynamic and supportive research environment where they can enhance their understanding of different areas of international economic law and policy.

The duties of the incumbent will involve:

• Assisting the Head of the International Economic Law and Policy programme in research in connection with the programme’s ongoing projects in international economic law, including CIL’s position as an official observer in UNCITRAL Working Group III, CIL’s ongoing work on international economic law and climate change, and its work on the evolution of the international architecture for economic regulation.
• Assisting with the development and organization of seminars and workshops organized by CIL, including the Singapore International Arbitration Academy.
• Conducting research and completing at least one publication for possible publication in a recognized journal at the termination of the position.

All research staff in CIL will have access to professional development opportunities (e.g., events, seminars, and training programmes) within NUS. They will also have opportunities to attend regional and international conferences, workshops and symposiums as well as other scholarly opportunities.

Qualifications
