Responsibilities

• To assist in the overall management and technical operations of the Marine Fleet that includes the preparation, review and management of all technical documentation, vessel certificates, maintenance records, compliance records and etc.
• Providing the necessary administrative support and coordination for any vessel inspections, repairs and docking works.
• Assist in liaising with customers on technical and operational matters that inclusive of vessel performance etc.
• Attending to vessel docking, repairs and surveys when requires and carry out supervision on any contractors' repair / maintenance works on board the vessel.
• Monitoring the technical status of vessel in term of Class certificates and surveys and ensure that all statutory certificates, equipment certificates, etc, are properly maintained, documented and up to date.
• To identify and source for technical and operational supplies required for the vessel's need. Coordinate with the suppliers for timely delivery to the vessels.
• Monitoring and controlling of the vessels consumables to prevent unnecessary wastage.
• To keep track of the vessels LSA, FFA, cargo hoses registry, lifting gear registry and PPE of all shipboard personnel.
• Appointed as safety committee member to carry out ool-box meeting for the vessels and attend to vessel inspections.
• To work closely with the HSE team to ensure the smooth implementation and compliance of company's safety and quality standards.
• To assist in investigating any defects / failures occurred and reporting all vessel incidents, near misses to prevent and eliminate any potential incidents.
• To assist in maintaining crew records that inclusive of certifications, training, medical checks and coordinating in crew changes.
• To undertake any other technical related tasks and assignements as and when required.

Requirements

• Some relevant working experience in similar capacity
• A team player and ability to work in a team enviornment with minimum supervision.
• Ability to Speak Bahasa Indonesia ( to communicate with crew from Indonesia)
• Possess of Class 3 licence will be an advantage

The project will entail a close characterization of these host factors and their role in the viral life cycle as well as the modulation of the immune response of small animal model to these viruses. In addition to multi-Omics approaches (including single-cell and spatial), protein-protein interactions, microscopy, functional genomics, viral reverse genetics and CRISPR Cas9 gene editing will be some of the tools used to investigate this viral hijacking and understand the host-viral interplay. The Experimental Marine Ecology Laboratory (EMEL) within the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Singapore is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work on a major new project “Maximizing the beneficial environmental effects of tropical hybrid shorelines (MaxBETH)”. This interdisciplinary research aims to determine how hybrid coastal protection systems can be implemented at large scales in Singapore as well as assessing the challenges and benefits of up-scaling and identifying the effects of hybrid shorelines on biophysical processes.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Assist in administrative work to support the project
• Carry out intertidal and subtidal biodiversity surveys
• Coordinate with sister projects
• Prepare research manuscripts, reports, and presentations

Qualifications

Applicants should have completed a Masters degree or equivalent in biology, marine biology, ecology, geography, environmental studies, or other similar discipline. We may also consider applicants with Segrees in Engineering, Architecture, or Landscape Design. The candidates should have a strong passion for marine-related research. Research skills including species identification, statistical analysis, writing abilities, as well as the capacity to work within a diverse group of ecologists and marine scientists, are desirable. Candidates with previous first-authored ecological publications will be given priority.

Hold a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in biology, marine biology, ecology, geography, environmental studies, or other similar discipline. We may also consider applicants with degrees in engineering, architecture, or landscape design.

Experience

• At least three years’ experience in a related field
• Ability to conduct experimental work in field, lab, and aquaria

Responsibilities:

• Conduct both quantitative (e.g., online surveys) and qualitative (e.g., focus group moderation) research to understand social trends and public opinion.
• Oversee research projects from inception to delivery, and coordinate research activities (e.g.,project management, data analysis, design questionnaires and discussion guides, respondent recruitment, managing respondents) amongst cross-functional teams to ensure timely and impactful insights.
• Assist with managing client queries, expectations and relationships.
• Manage accounts and contribute to sale pitch to potential clients
• Create highly actionable and digestible reports in PowerPoint.
• Present results of study confidently to external clients across working levels.
• Assist teammates in administrative tasks and operations, when required.

Requirements:

• Degree in any discipline with a passion for research.
• Experience in social research, and familiar with quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
• Must have focus group moderation experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and consultative mindset.
• Competency with Microsoft Office.
• Proficient in statistical software and qualitative analysis tools is preferred.
