We are looking for a Research Fellow to develop sensors and mitigants for bacterial contaminations in the cellular agriculture industry. An essential part of this research work is using protein-protein interactions (PPI) of the target bacteria both as basis for sensors development and as targets for mitigation. Peptides based on these PPI interfaces will serve for sensing the target bacteria as well as starting points for non-antibiotic mitigants. The job will include identifying potential target protein-protein interactions of the bacteria, designing and synthesizing peptides derived from these PPI interfaces, evaluating their inhibitory activity and antimicrobial activity and developing more advanced and active derivatives. The Centre for Population Health Research and Implementation (CPHRI) is a centralised platform for population health research, innovation, implementation and evaluation activities in SingHealth. CPHRI aims to seamlessly leverage data and technology to guide and support population health initiatives and accelerate the implementation of research findings in care delivery and improvement.

You will support the work of the Population-based, Unified, Learning System for Enhanced and Sustainable Health (PULSES) Centre Grant as well as other signature research programmes in the centre. You will assist the Principal Investigators in developing grant proposals and study plans. You will conduct literature reviews and systematic reviews as well as assist with study design and planning. You are required to perform data analysis and ensure the accuracy in the data interpreted.

You will be involved in the preparation of abstracts/posters/manuscripts/reports. You will oversee the process and quality of the study execution and keep track of timelines and budget. You will also lead a team of junior research staff and provide technical supervision.

Requirements

• PhD degree in Social Science, Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Economics or related academic area with at least 3 years’ experience in population health research
• Experience in health economics or implementation science will be an advantage
• Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals

NTU Facility for Analysis, Characterisation, Testing and Simulation (FACTS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for running the Small/Wide Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS/WAXS) facility and the thin film XRD. The role mainly covers instrument management, user support in terms of training, and consultation, to enable a broad user base to use the machines efficiently and safely.
• Conduct maintenance on the above machines, liaising with vendor engineers and trouble-shooting regular problems and issues.
• Conduct data analysis related to SAXS/WAXS and thin film XRD experiments.
• Deliver courses on SAXS/WAXS and thin film XRD covering introductory and topical or advanced courses that are relevant for facility users.

Job Requirements

• PhD in Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Proficient in conducting SAXS/WAXS analysis in transmission and in grazing incidence (GISAXS/GIWAXS). Additional experience related to thin film XRD analysis such as X-ray reflectivity (XRR), crystal orientation mapping and high resolution XRD, are highly beneficial.
• Experience doing in-situ measurements, including but not limited to heating/cooling will be a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum planning and assessment:

• Use data from formative and summative assessments to look at standards achieved within the subject and identify areas for further development.
