Genetic engineering of plants promises to provide sustainable solutions for food security and climate change mitigation. Current genetic engineering technologies using Agrobacterium, viruses and nanoparticles through syringe injection and biolistic bombardment suffer from limitations including narrow ranges of host species, low transformation efficiencies, strict restrictions on cargo types and sizes, tissue damage and unwanted transgene integration into plant genome. A major challenge to deliver exogenous material into plants is the cell wall barrier. Job Description

• Manage two laboratories and ensure that the equipment, tools and other materials are adequately stocked and kept in working condition.
• Carry out termly stock take
• Liaise with teachers to prepare, set up and clear up the experiments and practical demonstrations
• Assist in preparing resources for other Science related matters e.g. Science competition and eco-guardian activities
• Assist in germinating the seeds for the school’s hydroponics system
• Watering of plants on the racks near the Science laboratory

Requirements
