We are looking for a Research Fellow to develop sensors and mitigants for bacterial contaminations in the cellular agriculture industry. An essential part of this research work is using protein-protein interactions (PPI) of the target bacteria both as basis for sensors development and as targets for mitigation. Peptides based on these PPI interfaces will serve for sensing the target bacteria as well as starting points for non-antibiotic mitigants. The job will include identifying potential target protein-protein interactions of the bacteria, designing and synthesizing peptides derived from these PPI interfaces, evaluating their inhibitory activity and antimicrobial activity and developing more advanced and active derivatives. This is a short term research assistant role to assist a research project on the topic of carbon capture, the role requires theoretical and hands-on experiences in the synthesis of porous carbon, specifically in techniques such as material formulation, freeze casting, and characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, BET, FTIR and XRD.

The individual will also have proven technical writing experiences, having first-authored published manuscript in peer reviewed journals. Join the laboratory of Shen Yijie at SPMS. We are seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to a project focused on Harnessing High-Dimensional Complex Optical Topological Structures by Generative AI.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop the AI architecture for the project
• Design the Physics-enhanced algorithm for structured light classification
• Manage the project's progress
• Write the academic paper (journal and conference)
• Write the research funding proposal

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in AI for Science or related field
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in technical hands-on experience with AI for Nanophotonics
• Familiarity with structured light, generative AI models.
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in FDTD simulation, PyTorch, and Python Programming
• Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines

Responsibilities

• Design and development of atom interferometry based sensors
• Work in collaboration with electronics engineers and mechanical engineers to develop the system
• Research on the improvement and miniaturization of atom interferometry based sensors

Must have skills

• PhD in Physics, with research experience in cold atom physics
• Proficient in experimental work
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Fluency in spoken and written English

Nice to have skills

• Prior experience in atom interferometry
• Built atom interferometry based gravimeter, accelerometer, or gyroscope
• Built near-IR lasers, laser locking system, and RF electronics

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the team to build pipelines on Platform on data can be processed effectively

• Organize the database such that all clinical data are linked and easily retrieved - Build the pipelines for federated data sharing

• Data Analysis: Perform data analysis and visualization work to support research projects, grant applications, and publications

• Database Management - Manage the database used to host our clinical data to ensure that it is maintained operationally in a cost-effective manner

• Perform data cleaning, data standardization, and data structuring for data in the database

• Coding work required
