The Talent

• Fluent in both spoken and written English, with excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with users of different levels and backgrounds.
• Proficient in using Help desk tool to manage tickets for users, follow up on issues, and provide timely resolutions.
• Able to provide day to day support for end users on various desktop related issues, such as printer, Outlook, OS, etc.
• Experienced in building machines for end users in case of machine crash, and ensuring data backup and recovery.
• Proactive in identifying the root causes of issues and providing fixed solutions, as well as escalating complex problems to relevant teams or vendors.
• Responsible for managing VIP users' issues and communicating with them professionally and courteously, while meeting their expectations and needs.

The Job

• Manage Help desk tool and manage tickets for users.
• Reset password for user and provide day to day support for end users.
• Provide any technical help for desktop related issues, like printer, Outlook, OS issue.
• Build machine for end user in case machine is crashed.
• Identify the issues pro-actively and provide fixed solution.
• Manage VIP users for their day to day issues

The role:

Tyk Customer Support is the best in the business, we’ve been called ‘too fast’ by clients and we’re known for having knowledgeable and quality engineers responding to clients, no ‘first-line support’.

We’re looking for a Support Engineer to help us build on our reputation for great support, dealing with client support tickets, call requests and community forum posts. In this role you can also contribute to product development, helping implement features and contributing to product discussions, from a support perspective. 

We are helping our customers solve their critical API Management issues, whether that be through custom integrations, partnership relationships, or simply troubleshooting upgrades with their engineering team.

You will work with engineers from the product team to enhance our offering and convey the clients’ needs, as well as contribute to the product, support documentation and other supporting assets.

We’re looking for highly-technical people with Support Engineering experience, who are happy to hit the ground running and help to design what great customer support looks like at Tyk. In return we offer you the opportunity to build your skills as an engineer, through collaborating on our open source product and helping to validate and fix customer issues. 

What will this role be responsible for?

• Answering complex incoming customer tickets and requests, often involving troubleshooting and reading source code
• Supporting customers over screen shares/calls
• Validating customer bug reports
• Validating customer feature requests
• Own and manage severity issues for customers
• Effectively communicate customer support processes to clients
• Contribute to client facing content/documentation to support them better
• Build relationships with existing clients to better understand how they’re using Tyk
• Monitoring our community forum 
• Advocating for the customer at Tyk
• Contributing to the vision for Next Level Support at Tyk

What does their day-to-day involve?

• Reviewing the support queue and picking up issues
• Validating reports of bugs & discussing features with clients
• Monitoring the community forum & engaging with our users
• Inputting into release meetings, projects and support development
• Contributing to the product through bug fix and development work
• Continuous product learning and self development

Experience needed:

• Experience providing technical support for a complex product
• Experience working collaboratively with core engineering teams
• Experience with reading programming languages. Need to be able to read Tyks source code
• Enthusiasm for dealing directly with clients
• Should have experience in a server side programming language, Go would be extremely advantageous
• Good English writing skills
• Background in software development and/or solution architecture
• General usage of Linux, scripting and related utilities
• Client-facing activities such as video conference calls and in-person meetings
• Understanding of common internet technologies, protocols, standards and data formats

• Solid experience in backend engineering and/or solution architecture for complex systems.
• Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation)

Skills (including education if relevant):

• Previous experience in a support engineering environment
• Familiarity with software development process
• Communication & customer focus

Job Scope

Infrastructure Management

•Drive infra project life cycle – Server provisioning to Cutover.

•Work with infra and app teams on requirement gathering to implementation.

•Review and analyze infrastructure architecture and identify the gaps.

•Perform RHEL OS patching and other administration tasks for cloud projects

•Guide app team to troubleshoot infra related issues.

•Be the SME for Linux administration and automation.

Operation & Process:

•Prepares technical project plans for new initiatives in BAU

•Collaborates with Application teams and other infra teams to develop technical solutions and enhancements.

•Drive the on boarding of new applications on to the production environment.

Maintain Security:

•In accordance with Bank’s security directives, assists to deploy, maintain, and enhance the security of all infrastructure systems through administrative, preventive, detective, and reactive controls, such as change and configuration management, anti-virus measures, patch management, and system scans.

Requirements

•At least 4-7 years of relevant Infrastructure support and OS administration

•Minimum 3 years hands-on working experience managing production application support

•Knowledge in MQ, Elastic Search, AWS would be preferred

•Hands-on experience in RHEL 6/7 OS patching, administration and shell scripting.

•Good command in Microsoft Office products.

•Experience in monitoring tools like Dynatrace would be handy.
