Job Description

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), National University of Singapore is looking for researchers and engineers to develop next generation quantum computers based on trapped ions. There are multiple positions available at different levels with a diverse set of expertise. This program is funded under the National Quantum Processor Initiative, a flagship program under the National Quantum Office Singapore. The aim of the program is to develop a full stack quantum processor based on Yb-Ba ions. This program brings together the unique capabilities of the existing ion trap groups in CQT expertizing on these two-ion species to explore scalability of the system.

The Centre for Quantum Technologies is a pioneering quantum centre in the world offering a diverse research culture at the intersection of three different fields namely, theoretical, experimental Physics and computer science. The team members will work to build electronics to control the ion trap quantum processor. That includes digital design, RF and microwave sources and low noise analog / digital front end. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of the development cycle: collaborate with other team members to define the technical requirements, design, manufacturing, testing and integration of the prototype into the control system.

Job Requirements

We are looking for several electrical engineers to join the small team of scientists and engineers working on the next generation of the ion trap quantum processor. The candidate should have:

• Bachelor or Master degree in electronics, electrical engineering or related fields;
• At least 1-2 years of experience in electronics design is preferred;
• Experience in programmable digital logic design using Verilog or VHDL, digital signal processing, and familiarity with control theory;
• Design and characterisation of low noise electronics for the analog front end, good understanding of the noise sources in electronic circuits;
• Design and implementation of the RF electronics circuits.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the presales team to conduct site surveys and assessments. This involves evaluating the customer's location, infrastructure, and specific requirements to determine the ideal setup and deployment for the robot.
• Responsible for setting up, commissioning the robot on-site and ensuring the robot is ready for operation.
• Perform thorough testing, identify and troubleshoot errors/failures and implement appropriate solutions to resolve the issues promptly.
• Handle repairs and maintenance tasks for the robot. This involves conducting regular maintenance activities as per the SOP/guidelines and addressing any breakdowns or equipment failures.
• Travel to customer sites, both local and international (whenever necessary), to provide on-site support, conduct setup/commissioning, perform maintenance tasks, and resolve technical issues at short notice to provide support or address urgent issues. Additionally, you should be willing to adapt to the customer's work environment and schedule, which may include night shifts and public holidays when necessary.
• Responsible for documenting service and fault reports. This includes accurately recording the details of the service provided, issues encountered, and the actions taken to resolve them. These reports are typically submitted to superiors and key individuals within the organization for review and analysis.
• Maintain detailed records of all tasks related to customer service. This includes maintaining customer service logs, updating internal service records, and ensuring all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
• Train customers and end-users on the proper handling, maintenance, and safety procedures of robot operation. Create and update documentation, including user manuals and service guides, to facilitate knowledge transfer and enhance support processes.

Job Description: Semiconductor Process Integration Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly-skilled Process Integration Engineer to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and deliver advanced process modules with our partner foundry facilities for optoelectronic integrated circuits (ICs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in semiconductor process technology and a proven track record of working effectively with external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process Development: You will join an existing team to design and develop semiconductor process flows to for a proprietary CMOS + III-V monolithic integration platform. You will integrate various process modules into a cohesive manufacturing process, optimizing for performance, yield, and reliability.

2. Collaboration with Fab Partners: You will be responsible for management of projects under your purview with one or more fab partners, including aspects such as budgeting, schedule and resource planning. You will work closely with fab partners to develop, optimize, and implement process modules for optoelectronic ICs, ensuring compatibility with fab partner manufacturing protocols. You will provide technical support and feedback to fab partners, troubleshooting process-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
