KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Systems Integration Engineer, you are accountable for:

· Preparing definition documents to align with project targets relating to costs, deadlines and quality, and participating in the product integration and verification phases

· Supporting the planning and coordination of program software integration activities, and delivering software integration services for systems and/or sub-systems of products

· Defining and leading testing activities (regression, interface, simulation scenarios and test tools)

· Product installation, configuration, data management, performance monitoring and systems administration

· Leading the integration & block testing of incremental software releases for products and/or projects, in accordance with the schedule

· Providing expert technical support and the setup of environments to developers, testers and end users, and providing support to the software integration team, development and validation teams during the implementation phase of the project

· Identifying risks and proposing effective solutions

· Authoring documentation and documentation updates

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Engineer is a professional engineer performing duties requiring the application of mature professional engineering knowledge. With scope for individual accomplishment and coordination of more difficult assignments, the professional deals with problems for which it is necessary to modify established guides and devise new approaches.

The Senior Engineer may make some original contribution or apply new professional engineering approaches and techniques to the design or development of equipment or special aspects of products, facilities and buildings.

Recommendations may be reviewed for soundness of judgement but are usually regarded as technically accurate and feasible. The Senior Engineer makes responsible decisions on matters assigned, including the establishment of professional engineering standards and procedures, consults, recommends and advises in speciality engineering areas.

Work is carried out within broad guidelines requiring conformity with overall objectives, relative priorities and necessary cooperation with other units. Informed professional engineering guidance may be available.

The Senior Engineer outlines and assigns work, reviews it for technical accuracy and adequacy, and may plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the work of other professional and technical staff.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated the following knowledge and experience:

· A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science or IT

· Solid understanding of software integration and testing processes including regression, interface, simulation scenarios and test tools

· Solid experience in using UNIX/Linux operating systems, binary and source level debugging tools, Requirement/Test and Defect Management Systems

· Practical experience of integration and verification of software / hardware components on large, complex, software-based systems

· Practical experience with programming languages such as; Java, Shell Scripting, Python and continuous integration tools such as Git and Jenkins

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise documents that clearly articulate complex technical detail

Responsibilities:

• Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process.
• Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings.
• Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required.
• May perform equipment modifications as directed by engineers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ADDITIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

As Data Center Technician, you'll deploy and maintain Google's Data Center Server and Network Infrastructure by installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and server software. You'll also take on the configuration of more complex components (e.g., networks, routers, bridges, and switches). You will participate in or lead local project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.

In this role, you will ensure that our goals, missions, and projects are successfully delivered, and, more importantly, that they are repeatable across our global array of data centers. You will move and install equipment, and work with infrastructure to ensure Google Data Center quality and reliability.

Qualifications

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contribute to efforts/projects in the deployment, maintenance, and support of current and new data center infrastructure.
• Assist in deploying, repairing, and troubleshooting next generation machine learning platforms, providing feedback to local deployment/project teams.
• Participate in complex troubleshooting and resolve critical technical issues. Test and troubleshoot new server and network hardware components and designs.
• Install and maintain switches, routers, and other large-scale networking gear.
• Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS related issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with Data Centers, Networking, Communication, Hardware, Technical Troubleshooting, Operating Systems, Teamwork, Scripting, and Python.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with and troubleshooting hardware or network related issues using Linux-based tools.
• Experience working within a data center or networking operation center environment.
• Experience with maintenance and monitoring of server systems.
• Ability to communicate in English fluently in order to effectively communicate with representatives.
• Ability to lift/move 20 lbs of equipment as needed.
