As a Salvage engineer, the world is your playground. You never know when or where a ship gets into trouble. That is why for a Salvage Engineer literally every day is different. It sounds like a cliché, but it is the reality. As a Salvage Engineer, you will have an adventurous job. When a ship is in distress, you will travel to the emergency scene with a multidisciplinary team. Once on-site, you work together with the team to repair the ship's plant and get the systems up and running again. It is vital to salvage the vessel as quickly as possible. Your responsibilities as a Salvage Engineer

• As part of the mobile team, provide support to the Salvage Master/Project Manager at site.
• When at base, assisting the technical manager and the operations manager in the selection of new salvage equipment and setting up the right maintenance procedures.
• Maintaining company owned salvage equipment.
• Sharing knowledge with other engineers about complex ship's systems.
• Advising the salvage inspector and superintendent about how to break into existing ship's systems in order to use them during the salvage operation.

Job Purpose

To independently handle the piping activities, prepare, manage, and produce the critical engineering deliverables for the assigned project (that may include short-term assignment to Construction, Commissioning, and Offshore) effectively and efficiently according to the specified technical requirements, timelines and within budget, and deal independently with and resolve all the issues of the project.

Core Responsibilities

Provides piping weight inputs for weight control reports.

Prepares data sheets for process-critical and non-critical piping specialty items obtaining the process parameters required for designing and manufacturing process-critical items.

Prepares requisitions for piping bulk items, valves, piping specialty items, gaskets, stud bolts and nuts, spring supports, cargo tank heating coil (marine), and valve remote control system (marine) and performs a technical evaluation of bids received from various suppliers to ensure shortlisted vendors meet technical requirements as per project specifications, and provides an assessment on technically acceptable bids for Buyer to follow up tender evaluation further to conclude and award the purchaser order.

• Involved in detailed site investigation, terrain, landform, underground and other conditions as generate various technical design example drainage, power and communication supply.

• Design drawings including layouts, elevations and details.

• To provide drawing modifications and advice on altering design changes to match site condition under the guidance of operation team.

• Participate in management and implementation of design and various technical data, responsible for compilation of construction operation instructions and technology summary and report to Project Manager.

• Prepare detailed weekly and monthly progress plans to project team according to progress targets as assigned.

• Communicate with government personnel/owner/developer/consultant to coordinate existing site issue as necessary.

• Ensures timely, safe, and cost-effective design and implementation throughout the project lifecycle from conception to client satisfaction. Eliminate the potential safety risks in advance

• Maintain, supervise and implement robust technical standards, systems and processes

• Prepare detailed bill of quantities, and list out accurate accounting of various quantities to ensure that the quotation conforms to the design drawings and specifications

• Influence technology strategies and decisions with a high-level of expertise and knowledge

• Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with relevant legislative specifications and standards

• Lead a team of workes developing, and address training needs when necessary

• Coordinate the regular testing of to address faults, and provide evaluations to improve

• Record and write the construction log, various data and information, file the construction record as backup.

• Act as a key contact with customers who have technical issues

• Able to site inspection anytime to ensure tracking condition of operation and confirm made necessary correction for further progress

• Compile schedule plan and personnel mechanical allocation table as report for managers

• Management of all site engineers on using machine at work for coordination matters

• Fluent in drainage systems, design and installation of drainage systems to manage stormwater and prevent flooding

•Prepare based on construction plans and arrangements, implementing bored piles progress, strictly control the construction nodes and quality. Carry backup plan if unqualified

• Supervising work for the safety and the efficiency of production on technical progress at site

• Able to advice and propose based on extra knowledge - Hydrology and Hydraulics, Material Science, Land and Soil Analysis, Geotechnical Research, Underwater construction, Earthwork survey

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering.

• Minimum 7 year(s) of working experience in the construction projects

• At least 3 years in bridge construction project

• Experience with Marine Project will be an advantage

• Willing to work on site

• Ability to clearly particulate expectations

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit & Civil 3D BIM application.

• Able to supervise and lead the survey team for handling all survey related issues.

• Able to provide design and drawings based on requirement and quotation.

• Able to provide advices on altering design changes to suit site condition.

• Comprehensive problem-solving abilities.

• Knowledge on related Construction Site exp: Hydrology and Hydraulics, Material Science, Underground Construction, Geotechnical Research, Under water construction of steel cofferdam in water

What you'll do: 

• Assist QP(S) in the daily supervision and coordination duties including civil (drainage, road) and structural works, site investigations, building works, etc, 
• Lead, monitor and supervise RTOs on Site
• Responsible for the consistency of quality assurance inspections and testing for works
• Attend site meetings and resolve technical issues with Contractor
• Keep quality records of all works, monitor & report on work progress
• Review and comment on contractor’s submissions
• To review and supervise safety, environmental and health matters
