Job Description

A Lab Technician position is available in Professor Chng Wee Joo’s research group at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore. This role will involve processing various types of patient samples, managing the sample inventory, and supporting animal work experiments. The successful candidate will play an essential role in the lab’s ongoing research in haematological malignancies, focusing on understanding the pathogenesis of cancers like multiple myeloma, acute myeloid leukemia, and NK/T-cell lymphoma.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sample Processing:Process a range of patient samples, including bone marrow, peripheral blood, and buccal swabs, with accuracy and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  Prepare samples for downstream analyses such as genomics and proteomics studies to aid research into cancer biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
  
• Inventory Management:Organize and maintain a detailed inventory of patient samples, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and tracking.
  Document and record all sample processing details accurately to contribute to research data integrity.
  
• Animal Work Support:Assist in handling laboratory mice, including breeding, monitoring, and performing procedures such as blood collection and organ harvesting.
  Support researchers in setting up animal experiments that model cancer progression and response to treatments.
  
• Lab Maintenance:Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment, following all safety protocols and biosafety guidelines.
  Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of lab equipment to support sample processing and animal work.
  
• Team Collaboration:Work closely with researchers and other lab members, communicating effectively to ensure efficient sample flow and workflow.
  Contribute to team discussions by providing feedback on sample processing methods and laboratory procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred, especially with sample processing and/or animal handling.
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures, including sample processing and inventory management.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and biosafety practices.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to handle high volumes of samples accurately.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative team approach.

Desirable Attributes:

• Experience working with cancer research samples or models.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Conduct quality control inspections for incoming, in-process, and outgoing products.
• Communicate with customers regarding product specifications and quality concerns.
• Regularly update quality standards to meet customer requirements.
• Carry out daily QC tasks, including incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
• Maintain and update QC testing records and reports.
• Review and validate routine QC results.
• Coordinate with the Logistics team for outgoing shipment arrangements.
• Report any abnormalities or issues to the QA Supervisor.
• Prepare and submit quality-related reports.
• Participate in ISO 9001:2015 internal quality audit (IQA) activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the company.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, servicing and maintaining machinery, equipment and systems both mechanically and electrically.
• Responsible for ensuring machinery and equipment run smoothly and reliably.
• Ability to perform preventive and predictive technical preventive maintenance is necessary.
• Maintain a proper machinery asset register to keep track of asset holdings.
• To monitor and control maintenance costs, track the costs of labour, supplies and equipment repairs.
• Ensure unplanned problems, breakdowns and emergencies are dealt with immediately and their root causes are determined.
• Work to maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed; complete tasks in a timely manner.

The Data Center Engineering Operation (DCEO) Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating within contract parameters within facilities. Often this will be including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metric reporting.

• Meet daily hours of operations, on call requirements and response during rotations.
• Manage minor and major planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure, with a solid understanding of the works involved, risks, mitigation and seeking approvals within relevant SLA’s as required.
• Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
• Prepare reports on all aspects of the data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
• Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for DCEO activities.
• Coordinate with DCO managers (IT), Networking, Logistics, Safety, Security and other business leaders and operating partners to execute projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.
• Review and follow the documentation relevant to technical support of business & facility operations.
• Implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability.
• Support operating partners in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering issues
