About Our Client:

Our client is an all-inclusive intervention center for children with special needs in Singapore. Their expert team uses diverse and intensive early intervention programs to help children overcome developmental disabilities, learning, and communication difficulties.

The integrated approach includes school readiness, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, educational therapy, social skills training, and engaging multi-sensory activities for babies and toddlers. Their personalized programs promote quality learning, leisure, and care in a safe environment.

Speech Therapy Session

Speech therapy exercises and activities are tailored to the child's disorder, age, interests, and needs. The Programme is to include:

1. Play-based interactions and stimulating toys/activities to foster language development.
2. Modeling correct sounds and syllables during age-appropriate play to teach speech skills.
3. Providing strategies and homework for parents/caregivers to reinforce therapy at home.
4. Ensuring transferable skills to various settings by collaborating with teachers and caregivers.
5. Adapting goals as the child's communication profile evolves.
6. Incorporating goals into enjoyable activities for maximum engagement and motivation.
7. Promoting social and emotional development through effective communication and relationship-building.
8. Promoting effective communication so the child experiences social and emotional benefits, establishing positive relationships.

Key responsibilities:

1. Use data and appropriate assessment tools to identify student therapy needs;
2. Identify and prioritize goals to facilitate individual and group interventions;
3. Create a personalized intervention plan based on the child's strengths and weaknesses.
4. Implement relevant child's care plans;
5. Conduct speech therapy sessions in a supportive and engaging environment, either in small groups or one-on-one
6. Complete specialist report, case notes and other documentation;
7. Perform appropriate caseload management and
8. Continuously uphold standards of best practice to ensure quality service delivery.

Job Requirement:

• Degree or Post-graduate qualification in Speech & Language Therapy from a recognised University.
• Must be fully registered AHPC.
• Local or PR preferred.
• Must have compassion to work with children of special needs.
• STs who are working with Paediatrics in Early Intervention Centre is preferred

The Therapist works with families and individuals to better understand their social and psychological needs. He/she may be given cases that are complex and/or referred by key service stakeholders (e.g. doctors, nurses, counsellors, family service centres, Homes, etc.). He/She is responsible for helping clients develop skills, access resources, and tap on support services for multifaceted issues, including violence, addiction, delinquent behaviour, marital, and mental health problems.

The incumbent is expected to work a total of 40 hours over the course of one week. He/she is also required to work two nights a week (Mondays and Wednesdays). He/she is largely expected to work in an office environment, although he/she may also be required to travel out of the office for appointments.

Key Areas of Responsibility

· To receive complex case referrals from key service stakeholders such as family service centres, homes, hospitals, lawyers etc.

· To engage individuals, family and significant others in the therapeutic relationship to understand the needs.

· To utilise systemic concepts and techniques for case assessment and interventions.

· Draft reports and represent case for case supervision and case conference.

· Provide supervision and guidance to the Centre’s Therapists where required.

Requirements

· Minimum 4 years of experience in counselling individuals, couples and families independently.

· Bachelor Degree/Masters in Social Work, or Masters in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology, or Post Graduate Diploma or Masters in Systemic Psychotherapy/Family Therapy from an accredited institution.

· Familiarity with the systemicframework and have been employingsystemic concepts and perspectives in clinical practice.

· Possess emotional maturity, empathy and ability to be self-reflexive in working with clients.

· A good team player with excellent communication and presentation skills.

· Preferably attained certification as a registered counsellor/supervisor with the Singapore Association for Counselling. Preferably have attained certification in Systems Approach in Family and Marital Therapy by an accredited institution.

· Candidates are expected to provide consultations, deliver talks as well as conduct trainings as part of their job responsibilities and career progression in CCC.

Clinical Care

• Assess, Evaluate, Plan and Treat clients with a variety of disabilities for optimal care.
• Lead the team in delivering consistent and excellent clinical and service quality to clients and sponsors.
• Ensure that the team comply with clinical protocols and service standards in line with MOH service requirements. 
• Responsible for the accurate assessment and appropriate treatment and activities for clients at Maintenance Day Care / Dementia Day Care.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in accordance with MOH requirements including but not exhaustive:

• Initial assessment
• Reassessments
• Therapy goals
• Individualised care plan
• Multidisciplinary meetings
• Treatment updates (using SOAP format) where necessary.
• Discharge planning

• Work as a multidisciplinary team and attend case conferences, team meetings, and family meetings.
• Provide home visits, home modification and caregiver training as required to facilitate the continuity of care for our clients (Home Therapy)
• Submit applications for schemes such as eSMF when necessary.
• Maintain safety and upkeep of all OT equipment and resources in Day Rehab.
• Referral to external organisations as necessary (eg. Social Work Department)

Administrative Duties

• Collate statistics to monitor performance of staff and services.

• Investigate and resolve all feedback and complaints received pertaining to rehab staff.

• Document and report adverse incidents to management, as necessary.
• Maintain a neat and tidy workplace.

• Maintain and upkeep a proper inventory control with regular inspection and audits. 
• Responsible for the improvement of the day-to-day operations and to provide suggestions to improve work processes at the respective centres/homes. 

 
Education and Training

• Participate and conduct trainings on dementia care and activity engagements, etc for therapists, care staff and volunteers.
• Provide supervision to assigned staff/interns/volunteers.
• Engage with relevant agencies relating to OT.

Research and Quality Improvement Projects (when required)

• Participate in research and activities at departmental and organisational level

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional practice experience; Experience working in dementia care, geriatrics or healthcare settings preferred.
• Passionate towards serving seniors.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.
• Positive working attitude and good team player.
• Good personality, honest and responsible individual.

• Diploma/ Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Obtain full registration with AHPC
