In the Asia Pacific region there has seen a surge in the adoption of payments using QR code. This growth is driven by multiple factors such as - the widespread use of smartphones, increasing penetration of internet services and, adoption of QR by the real-time payment networks and fintech. This growth in QR code payments in not isolated in the Asia Pacific region. It is picking pace globally and, the trend is expected to continue in the coming years.

Visa is establishing it’s Centre of Excellence in Singapore which will spearhead Visa’s QR participation in this growing trend. A dedicated team will provide strategic direction, thought leadership, product and execution support, best practices, and oversight for QR based payment for Visa. While Asia Pacific region will be its operating and learning ground, the remit of this Center of Excellence will be global. This team will templatize its learning in the region and help shape market responses globally.
