Key Responsibilities:
- Business sourcing and Negotiations
Identify and source suitable cargo opportunities in line with company strategy, market trends, and vessel availability. Engage in negotiations with cargo owners, brokers, and other stakeholders to secure optimal charter rates and terms.
- Market Analysis and Relationship Building
Stay informed about market trends, supply and demand dynamics, and geopolitical developments that could impact the chartering business. Develop and maintain strong relationships with cargo owners, brokers, and other industry professionals to facilitate successful chartering transactions.
- Contract Management and Risk management
Monitor the execution and performance of voyages and review close accounts.
Provide regular reports and updates on chartering activities, cargo trends, and market insights to senior management.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Maritime Studies, Business, Economics, etc.)
· Proven experience as a Chartering Manager or Trader in the Panamax segment
· Strong network of contacts within the chartering industry, including cargo owners, shipbrokers, and other stakeholders
· Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to make informed decisions under uncertainty
· Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends and risks effectively
· Self-motivated and capable of working independently to source tonnage
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
· Understanding of international maritime regulations and commercial shipping practices
· Fluent in Chinese & English, in listening, conversing, reading and writing
· Strong preference for a Singaporean or PR
