RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead for the OAR Cluster #3 team
- Overall responsibility for all alumni-related efforts directly or closely related to the schools and colleges assigned to the team.
- This includes all alumni-related efforts for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Managing Alumni Chapters, Groups and Communities
- Engage alumni through building and deepening relationships with local and overseas alumni groups (i.e overseas chapters, local school alumni chapters, programme-based and affinity-based alumni groups).
- Provide direction and guidance to alumni groups and chapters on their initiatives, budget, succession plans and other alumni matters.
- Planning and executing OAR's Student Alumni Engagement Pathway strategies within the key primary accounts.
- Encourage alumni-driven initiatives and activities.
- Form online alumni communities and implement digital engagement strategies.
- Volunteer Management
- Revamp and lead OAR's Student-Alumni engagement pathway strategies through three mentoring tracks under SMU Alumni Mentoring Programmes.
- Engage alumni and manage alumni volunteers and leaders of local and overseas alumni groups, and provide necessary support aligned with OAR's larger volunteer engagement strategy.
- Manage the alumni and alumni groups database and update contacts and details of all volunteers as necessary.
- Work as a team member in OAR to support department-wide events for volunteers.
- Event Management
- Lead a work group or function independently to curate programmes and manage OAR events as required.
- When required, conduct surveys to identify the diverse needs of alumni and improve programme offerings.
- Measure the success of events and programmes.
- Partnership Development
- Collaborate with SMU Colleges, Schools and Offices to engage alumni and manage alumni activities, events and programmes including Homecoming and Patron's Day.
- Work with colleagues in different Colleges, Schools and Offices as strategic partners in alumni engagement.
- Manage collaborative initiatives with industry and external partners.
- Bachelor or Master Degree with at least 10 years of working experience, preferably in higher education sector and relationship management with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record in the higher education sector for planning, executing and improving community interaction and building. Knowledge of alumni relations will be an advantage.
- Detail-oriented with strong project management, good administration and organisational skills. Event-organising experience would be a plus.
- Demonstrate professionalism in conduct and speech. Able to lead and manage a team, thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to think critically, strategically and develop plans; and implement these plans to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Effectively bilingual with excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Mature and able to build and maintain relationships with alumni, industry partners and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of and adept at using technology, social media and database tools.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively and on occasion, outside regular work hours including overseas travel.
- Possess high levels of motivation and energy, an innovative mindset and a positive outlook.
- A dynamic team player who can multi-task and work under tight timelines.
