The Buyer assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the Company.
He /She qualifies vendors, evaluates bids and negotiates prices and terms for goods and services. Contributes directly to team goals and business objectives.
Principal Accountabilities
- Responsible for purchasing activities with Corporate, Engineering and Manufacturing departments to maintain inventories & turns at planned levels in a cost effective manner
- Monitor cost, schedule and scope of vendors and suppliers to assure the highest quality at the best price
- Identify and manage vendors, including contract development and ensure adhering to all compliance to local and overseas laws
- Implement procurement strategies, policies, quality checks and procedures
- Track vendor performance metrics focusing on cost, quality, delivery, continuous improvement and sustainability
- Establish and foster strategic vendor relationships, develop risk assessment and mitigation plan for critical vendors, and escalate business risks, as necessary
- Develop strategic alternate sourcing list to drive down costs and ensure assurance of supply at same or better Incoming quality level
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field
- Min. 4 years of experience in processes and systems for purchasing, materials, inventory, stockroom, warehouse preferably within semiconductor equipment industry
- Fluency in English and Chinese (spoken and written) a must, the Buyer is required to work with Chinese counterparts
- Proficient computer skills including, SAP/ERP systems and MS Office Suite
- Experienced in using data and interpret to determine purchasing needs and perform inventory management tasks
- Experience in legal contracts review, negotiation, agreement management and administration, e-Procurement advantageous
